Equally uninformed about music, art and science but likely to post on any regardless. ECM nerd and Gerhard Richter obsessive. If I'm playing music: yes, it's supposed to sound like that.

A tube of glow-in-the-dark plastic planets that lists the contents as “8 glowing planets” and “1 glowing Pluto”

I salute the pedantry of the child’s new toy.

The opening of Ulysses comes to mind here.

Security implications aside. Not sure a pager is a thing to accept as a lovely gift from Mossad...

Thanks for your original post, I'd been scouring record racks for an original for some time and had never found one that didn't involve mortgaging a kidney 😳

And thanks to Discogs and Juno records in the UK, there's now one on its way 👍

Yes, but: leave bats alone and never pick one up, even here.

Much as I find Starmer detestable, his standing would rocket if he politely told Trump to sit on this and swivel.

I try to divorce the terrible behaviour from the music as far as possible. Sometimes I can manage it (John Martyn's behaviour, Evan Parker's attitudes to vaccines) even though it rankles; sometimes it's time to ditch the records and listen to someone else (Clapton). Never liked Morrisey anyway.

Marotta (on drums) and Copeland (hi-hat) - match made in heaven on that track.

Great choice. Some of mine:
Gimme Shelter - the Stones
The Rhythm of the Heat - Peter Gabriel (that Fairlight chord!)
Thème de Yoyo - Art Ensemble of Chicago
We Belong Together - Rickie Lee Jones

Peter Brötzmann's Machine Gun probably doesn't count as a song but might be my favourite opening of all

(our local wine shop has a system where they pump N2 into an open bottle to keep it from oxidising and you can get 25ml tasters using a smart card. At Christmas, they put some crazy bottles on some of the machines: the only time I'd get to try any of the wildly expensive stuff).

Perhaps a degree of truth in this, but in my very limited experience with really expensive wines (including one from 1945 recently), they more often taste *incredible*.

Strange that the keyboard could still pass as 'futuristic' at least in the context of the other items of equipment in the film, but the headphones look very old-fashioned.

Post a great photo of a musician

(cheekily posting my own not-so-great photo here, but I think it captures Eddie's intense listening, concentration and who knows, memories, as he played)
