Neat! Should the sprites be some uniform grid size? In my game sprites can be pretty big. I could pretend they are smaller chunks though using the mask though.

11.08.2025 08:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0AI bros have the highest intelligence to wisdom ratio I've ever seen.
11.08.2025 07:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you're not proud of your decision, you should be. It's never the right move to sell out your principles. That eats away who you are and makes it easier to do it the next time. You can't buy character, but you can sure sell it.
11.08.2025 07:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I really just did the colors and dithering. The flickering that you two made is awesome. If you have source somewhere I'd love to have a look :)

The tasteful subtlety of it. I have to add this to my gameboy shader.
11.08.2025 05:45 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0However I found a bug! It's easy to get into the situation where the character is blocked trying to get back to the old path, but not far enough away to trigger a new navigation ๐
Any ideas of how should I fix it? ๐ค
I'm also detecting when the character goes too far off of the path. When that happens, we don't try to make it back to the old path, we simply calculate a new path.
11.08.2025 05:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0๐งญNavigation updates. Added resiliency to character navigation. Specifically, when a character is knocked off of a path, it should find its way back to the nearest point on the path, and continue towards the goal.

Congrats on sticking to your principles. I've never had an offer like that but every few months I get a crypto bro hounding me to put crypto in my game. They are so exhausting.

Finished the pathfinding system in WebAssembly (via Assemblyscript).
3.2k nodes and 21k edges crunched in under 20ms(!) with a Web Worker. Fast enough for realtime movement updates.
Soon NPCs will have autonomy... ๐๐จ

24.07.2025 08:20 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0[7/7] Most games do the localization once because their text never changes. Get Lost is different because new levels are added continually. The auto-localization makes it so level authors can effectively speak the native language as all players! ๐ฃ๏ธ
Play: getlost.gg
[6/7] Some languages require special handling. For example, Arabic and Hebrew are written right-to-left! ๐คฏ If your UI does not take into account directionality, it's going to have a hard time with these languages.
23.07.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0[5/7] Dialects matter! ๐ง๐ทBrazilians use Brazilian Portuguese (pt-BR), which has significant differences from ๐ต๐นPortugal Portuguese (pt-PT). And in ๐จ๐ณChina they can use Simplified Chinese (zh-CN) or Traditional Chinese (zh-TW).
See the differences below:
[4/7] Gamers in other regions can be much more forgiving. For example, in ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ณ๐ด๐ธ๐ชScandinavia and the ๐ณ๐ฑNetherlands, English locales are often fine. Same with ๐ฎ๐ณIndia, where English is the official language and gamers are accustomed to English locales.
23.07.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0[3/7] Some gamers care more about localization than others. For example, in ๐ฏ๐ตJapan, ๐ฐ๐ทSouth Korea, ๐ง๐ทBrazil, ๐จ๐ณChina, and ๐ต๐ฑPoland, gamers prioritize localized games. If your game isn't localized there, it's going have limited impact.
23.07.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0[2/7] Localizing your game means making it feel native to a group of people in a region. This means changing the language, using regional dialects, and changing date formats (DD/MM/YY or MM/DD/YY). People LOVE when a game feels like it was made for them.
23.07.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Get Lost's auto-localization is complete! ๐ฆพ๐
Levels added to the game are automatically translated to 17 different regions. This means that stories from different cultures can be shared around the world ๐ข ๐
So what is game localization? [1/7] ๐งต
