It is unusual to photograph a Melanesian Megapode in full sunlight but for a few brief minutes earlier this morning this bird posed obligingly showing well its yellow bill, red face, grey underparts, brown wings and horn-coloured legs [www.Bird-Photo-Tours.com].

Melanesian Megapode photographed today here in the Solomon Islands. The parents do not incubate their own eggs and instead buries them in the sand. The heat from the sun then incubates their eggs.
