I think this tree is an apt metaphor for the United States right now. We have been attacked by the enemy -- Musk, Trump, or the people who gave them power over us -- and we are still hanging on, but barely. Much more of this, and our society, our economy, and our democracy will collapse.

I saw this tree when I was walking at Ivy Creek today. Obviously, beavers have been working on it, but somehow, against all odds, the tree is still supporting itself at its base, with no support from the ground. Amazing.

Water was shallow today, but beautiful to watch the wind sweep over it.

Went hiking with my father today. Saw deer, Canada geese, and the entrails of an animal killed by local birds of prey (no photos of that, relax). It was windy and beautiful.
