Every win Buzzfeed has had, from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism, high quality cultural critique, groundbreaking video content and pioneering comedy has been an accident because it is a media company historically run by people who hate media.

I don't know how Americans expect their leaders to care about children in Iran or Palestine being collateral damage of war when they don't even care about American children being collateral damage of poor gun control.

No meritocracy exists that enables white ass shit-breads like this to be given a seat at the table to decide whose research lives or dies. It's telling every one of them looks like a fucking mini Elon Musk, because the DOGE-in-Chief thinks a mirror is the best measurement of competence and wisdom.

Here's my 2 cents on this. I think as adults who have largely stuck with our childhood passions, we don't think about the significant # of people whose content intake *change* There are millions of gamers who will one day just, stop, after a certain age. They'll stop watching anime or drop comics.

Indie deckbuilder All Will Rise's dev joins No Games For Genocide boycott and plans to hand back funding it received from Microsoft "We encourage others in the industry to join us and take a stand."

all will rise is handing back Microsoft money & pledging @nogamesforgenocide.com — it’s a difficult thing to do when funding and attention are scarce commodities for indies like us, but we hope more of our fellow devs and indie studios will join us in taking a stand 🔥

Imagine trying to procure artistic legitimacy for your generative homunculus and one of your big plays is having them perform a whiny ass song about not being seen, being misunderstood, demanding professional acceptance. Please, that's loser behavior for even a human actress.

My only experience with Evangelion was the original 24 episode anime way back in the 90s. But even before social media and Tumblr fandom, I've always felt uncomfortable with the notion of fixing "broken" characters with happy endings, often through juvenile conceptions of love and marriage.

"Fan‑favorite characters often feel narratively doomed, and [...] pushes fans into flights of fancy where we imagine worlds that “fix” them. [...] Characters aren’t owed anything. And it's just as insulting to believe their problems can be solved by [...] pairing them off and calling it a day."

The dumbest fucking thing about a marketing initiative being attributed to a single Black woman executive is the fact that it obscures at least two other men at Microsoft in shaping it and approving it, assuming they didn't somehow suggest it themselves in the first place. What a crock of shit.

Voyager benefit from many of the effects and makeup people having worked on previous shows. That's many skilled hands bringing over a decade worth of experience sculpting alien faces and hi-tech doodads. It is the beneficiary of work on DS9, and DS9 built on people and practices from TNG.

Just a reminder that CFOs and other folks of their C-suite kind will say the most batshit loco thing to the people who create the products and services because there's no incentive for them to understand anything but their executive function. (JPG excerpt proffered by OP)

No, they don't know Bruce Wayne is Batman, but they see what he projects to the world. A fun playboy who dumps truckloads of money into funding public projects, has been seen with women of color on his arm, is besties with journalist, and adopts a rainbow of kids.

He's a male Angelina Jolie.

yes! yes!! it was honestly baffling to me to see the sh:f dev team assert that their game was somehow different than the previous sh games (especially 1 and 3) in the assertion of its themes. because the early silent hills have always had some varying degree of feminist critique!

My kid gets picked on in school some because they have green hair; "How dare this person do something I myself could choose to do but don't want to" is a very real source of anger for small minds

I just want to say as a non-American watching the United States from thousands of miles away with a pair of binoculars, it appears to me that this is a cyclical occurrence that transpires every two months.

If I recall correctly, this game -- set in the MetalTech: Earthsiege universe -- originally shipped with two discs, the other to loan to a friend for multiplayer, because 'buddy passes' didn't exist in the mid-90s.

You'll get no argument from me! Gacha is absolutely an assault on the mind designed to make the vulnerable part with more money than they have.

Bold of you to assume I would be deterred. I would absolutely blow all my golden herb to pull all the STARS for a five-star Sheva Alomar.

I kinda wish they were more dedicated to this idea, because I would fucking eat up Resident Evil but it's Tom Clancy's The Division in a bioweapon infested American metropolis.

Service game struggling? Lie that you will let studio improve it to realize their vision and then shut down. Live service game unsuccessful? Lie that you will ensure it can grow and then shut down. Live service game marginally profitable? Lie that you will foresee exciting future and then shut down.

I obviously don't think all service games should launch as free-to-play / freemium experiences, but man it's almost like asking anyone to invest $40+ in them in this economy is a big ask, to say nothing of several fraught attempts that have crashed and burned and left player bases in the lurch.

Oh sure it’s not like people who play videogames would be interested in obsessively tracking things like this and then becoming extremely angry about it

Back then it felt like a game *could* launch with less and not get killed overnight. Now it seems like you can launch with plenty more, and get murdered before you can grow.
