The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.
And trans lives are grounded in reality.
We see y'all. No matter what.

Seconding a lot of people here, I cried—and more than that, I was genuinely dazed from the shock of it all. I felt like I imagine my Rook would've felt in that moment, and that is a damned *feat* for any writer to pull off.
You and the whole team have my awe & gratitude. Literally unforgettable!

Exactly! 100% agree.
Exactly! Funny how some of these people have gone through an English degree & have come out of it with the idea that Communication Bad.
Accessible language is what'll keep our society unified and strong. Alienating people based on arbitrary markers of "intelligence"... well... look where we are now
Anyway, reading - yes, even close, analytical reading - is a skill you can learn at home. Sorry.
I know this from writing fiction outside of university. What I've learned in my English degree did absolutely nothing to advance my novel-writing craft. As I look into trying to learn to write video games, I have even less knowledge from my degree to fall back on.
An English degree ultimately teaches you how to read a specific set of texts. In 99% of cases, in 99% of courseloads, How To Write Video Game - and how to do it *well,* how to know it as well as the people actually working in dev know it - is not part of the course. At all.
I'm sorry I'm in a salty mood. If I have to hear "My English degree" in That Tone as part of fandom nonsense even one more time? Chair attack 🪑🪑🪑🪑
Speaking here as someone with an English degree btw.
It's so fascinating to me to think about what train of thought someone has to go through to arrive at "Yeah this game dev needs to hear my Spicy Take but only from a burner account"
... Like did the need for a burner account not give away that this idea is Probably A Bad One Actually, or 💀
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It's ridiculous because half of these people are writers/artists *in fandom,* yet can't seem to grasp that hindsight is an unavoidable part of creating, & that a writer will feel new waves of it literally forever.
I have very few other words. I'm just sorry. 💔

I rarely use color in my sketches but this one obviously needed some, so here you go✨🪻✨
I’m slowly prepping for Mermay so there’ll be some shift in themes for a while but don’t worry, Emmrook WILL return 😏

Not my Inquisitor being raven-themed and Dirthamen-themed all through DAI 😭Not me reading this and losing ALL my marbles about the raven icons 😭😭😭

If these games meant something to you, but you don’t feel right celebrating this 30th anniversary, perhaps consider a $30 donation towards a cause that helps the people most in need right now.

seconding this!! 💛
oh i am so excited for it, and i am SO happy to see a creative that i really admire being excited for the same!! i've quite latched onto "oh hey, there are other RPGs out there, and so many of them look so good" as a way to cope. ✌️
i hope you love it! i hope we all do!!
Dragon Age, like felassan, is immortal to me 💜 thank you.

I just want to say my small thank you to everyone who made Dragon Age happen. Playing Origins I fell in love with videogames and especially Dragon Age franchise. It affected my life in so many ways and I’m incredibly grateful.
Keep creating, you guys are the best.

Hello
Devs saying it's yours now about Dragon Age has me emotional at work, actually.
Putting the whole DA franchise in my pocket for safe keeping.
It's like a bag of holding. Don't worry it's safe in there :)
Game studio announcements be like, “We laid off all your favourite devs! But don’t worry, all the people actually responsible for the horrible decision-making that led to this massive failure are staying on :) and they will still be driving their new Porsches :) all is well!!!!!”
Dragon Age has brought me so much joy and comfort in my darkest times- i could (and might honestly) write so much about it.
That I cant reciprocate that feeling to the people that made it- i get so frustrated.
Any and all DA devs, you matter. Your work matters- they dont know all you did.
If you would like to help support Trick Weekes, they wrote a few books you should get! Quoted is the best ways to support, and here are the titles:
The Palace Job (2012)
The Prophecy Con (2014)
The Paladin Caper (2015)
Feeder (2018)
i'm coping with everything super well* today
*i have started a reblog chain so everyone can sing 'the dawn will come' with me via tumblr posts and it has now made me cry twice
🫂
Dragon Age is what made me start drawing again after a years long break. I have laughed and cried and been endlessly inspired by the world of Thedas and its inhabitants and will continue to be for the rest of my life. Words aren’t enough 💖 #thankyouDAdevs
