The most pernicious thing about having to RTO at the new job is that my most precious routine (having one day/week where I don't leave the house and interact with no-one) has become impossible in service of doing prep necessary to survive the week ahead. I really miss not missing human contact

I haven't played it since shortly after release but lately I'm thinking I'll have to. Might have given it a glow-up in the memory. But as story games go it's right up there for me: grotesqueries physical and mental, plus plenty of gutter laffs! What more could you want.

Undertale deserves its success for many reasons and on a 'gameplay' level it's certainly more innovative. But 11 years on I still don't think there's a game that hits the exact tone of Lisa, and where Undertale has its imitators, imitating Lisa would require panache many devs know they don't have.

the 'cool robot' meme. a cartoon human looks at a picture of themselves when they had freckles and a propeller hat, which is captioned 'traumatic childhood events', and thinks to themselves 'wow!! kids are so strong!' while overhead a thought passes over them completely: 'the adults in your life made poor decisions'

I would always have moments like, I'd hear about some new or exciting food and tell my folks "that sounds yummy, I'd like to try it!" and they'd be like "you ENJOY eating food? Not just for sustenance and to get it over with? Kid, is everything OK with you...?"

Online the above sounds like a complaint, but it's not really. Everybody involved probably did the best with what they had access to. And it was nice to even be able to try that kind of ridiculous thing, briefly. The money dried up within a year and it was back to going to school with flea bites

I want to stress that in this story there were 4 adults involved, at the very least, and not one of them stopped at any point to think "maybe we're overdoing it? This whole thing? Just a little?"

Speaking of consistency: I wish the devs the very best of luck heading towards their stated 'early 2026' full release date, especially having (and this is a direct quote) "a development style that rejects roadmaps". Feel like a lot of their customers are paying for the Discord rather than the game.
