Especially when considering the extraordinary unfairness and prejudice that would fall to
former defendants President Donald J. Trump, Waltine Nauta, and Carlos De Oliveira, including
the release of information over which President Trump has assertions of attorney-client privilege, see ECF 566 at 1, 6, it is the position of the Attorney General and this Department that release of Volume Il is unjustified. The illicit product of an unlawful investigation and prosecution belongs
in the dustbin of history. The United States will leave it there.

Map showing colder than average weather in the U.S. and Europe today and warmer than average weather in most other places
Source https://climatereanalyzer.org/wx/todays-weather/?var_id=t2anom&ortho=1&wt=1
2m Temperature refers to air temperature at 2 meters above the surface. 2m Temperature Anomaly refers to the departure of the current day's forecast temperature from a long-term mean for the same day of the year. The anomalies here are calculated from a 1979β2000 climatology from the NCEP Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR). This 22-year baseline, which is used instead a 30-year 1991β2020 climate normal, represents the early part of the CFSR record prior to significant warming observed across the Arctic since the early 2000s. Users are encouraged to learn more about reanalysis β approach, strengths, limitations, and product comparisons β from the NCAR Climate Data Guide. Additional information about reanalysis can be found at Advancing Reanalysis.

Seems like based on that paper on GWP and atmospheric chemistry, methane *emissions* are responsible for roughly one-third of warming, yes?

@climateofgavin.bsky.social or @benpoulter.bsky.social any chance you could help explain some of this? "Observed warming" versus "warming attributed" to GHGs or all agents is tripping me up.
21.01.2026 20:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Seems like ~1/3 & ~1/2 are both true, depending on what you're comparing to. Methane [is] responsible for ~47% of total obs. warming (1.07 degC); in comparison with the warming attributable to all well-mixed GHGs (~34%); and the temp. increase due to all warming agents (incl. aeresols etc) (~28%).

Thank you, Annie. Yes, the numbers in this article and the figure came from that Global Methane Budget (published in 2025), the UN FAO (for biomass burning methane attributed to the food system), and in consultation with one of the authors of the Global Methane Budget.

Washington Post demands government return materials seized from reporter
The Post demanded in a court filing Wednesday that federal law enforcement officials return electronic devices the government seized from a staff reporterβs home.
"The outrageous seizure" of @hannahnatanson.bsky.social's records "chills speech, cripples reporting, and inflicts irreparable harm." Anything less than immediate return "would license future newsroom raids and normalize censorship by search warrant" www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
