CONAN: “For the first time since 2012 no British people are nominated for Best actor or best Actress… a British spokesperson commented, ‘Yeah, well, at least we arrest our pedophiles.’" #Oscars
Are you a climate researcher based in the United States looking to do science in the public good? If so, consider applying for our Climate Science Serving America Fellowship! Applications will be accepted until April 17 at 11:59 pm ET. drawdown.org/careers/clim...
I think that person has had one too many. ;)
mother nature put the weather on shuffle
Btw this shouldn’t be a direct quote but captures Jefferson’s writing in Declaration of Independence: "...when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism […] it is their duty, to throw off such Government..."
New bumper sticker summarizes my thoughts.
Q: "Do you think that Donald Trump should be deposed by this Committee?"
Hillary Clinton: "Absolutely."
"Donald Trump has been held civilly liable for sexual assault by a jury of his peers … That is behavior that fits a pattern if one were looking for a pattern."
On top of everything else, oil and gas prices are going to spike because of Trump’s war in Iran.
But guess what doesn’t get disrupted by wars?
Renewable energy. Solar. Wind. Geothermal. Storage.
Poore and Nemecek's analysis is based on 160-some studies. The results depend heavily on where the cocoa is sourced... (so if Turkey has a source with less land use change, good for them!) There is a lot of deforestation happening for cocoa in West Africa unfortunately.
Sadly, these results may be limited to "the emerging chocolate market in Turkey." Acc. to a more extensive lit. review of GHGs of food products, which incl. a more global perspective on deforestation for cocoa, dark chocolate (70%) contributes ~48% more GHGs than milk. See doi.org/10.1126/scie...
The Supreme Court has decided to hear a major climate case against fossil fuel companies
Alito has not recused himself, despite owning nearly $200,000 in fossil fuel stocks—including in Phillips 66 and ConocoPhillips, which are being sued in cases that would be directly affected by a SCOTUS ruling
We seem to be nearing the heart of the story, and a lot will depend on the nerve of the journalists--NPR, the NYT, etc--to stay on this story relentlessly. Will they give it the same kind of coverage they gave Biden's age--i.e., full bore, around the clock, 50 opeds?

Yes, I wrote a peer-reviewed paper on the subject. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...
True. As an example, using corn to produce ethanol resulted in less corn for people and livestock. Even economists assumed only some of that food would be replaced by farmers elsewhere.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but reducing food production is not a sane climate solution. And any potential solution that results in less food production is bogus.
(Unless it also includes better food distribution, reducing waste, etc.)
A strange hill to die on 🤔 But, ok.
I guess it feeds into the ~industrial ag and processed foods are bad~ narrative. This admin has done things much worse for human health (see: reversing endangerment finding, etc).
U.S.-based scientists and engineers! Here's an amazing, remote, fellowship opportunity @projectdrawdown.bsky.social: drawdown.org/news/project...
What are the sources of cropland GHG emissions? Mostly rice cultivation & peatland drainage (~70% combined). A new study led by Cornell & @projectdrawdown.bsky.social details sources of these GHGs doi.org/10.1038/s415...
See nice write up @worldresources.bsky.social www.wri.org/insights/cli...
UK: Prince Andrew arrested.
South Korea: Former President Yoon sentenced for life.
Brazil: Former President Bolsonaro serving a 27-year sentence.
USA: President Trump demands $10 billion payout from taxpayers.
Getting shown up in the arena of elite impunity by *the British monarchy* is an incredible “America at 250!” achievement

Watch the Colbert show interview with Rep. James Talarico that Trump's FCC and CBS don't want you to see (it was barred from being aired): youtu.be/oiTJ7Pz_59A?...
Roses are red 🌹
Pulses are leguminous 🫘
They produce 20 times more protein per hectare 🏞️
Compared to meat that comes from ruminants 🐮
Three cheers for the sources that give great quotes. And also for @mollytaft.com @wired.com. Link to story below
While others are stepping back on climate, Project Drawdown is stepping up!
We’re proud to announce the Climate Science Serving America Fellowship to support U.S.-based Ph.D.-level scientists & engineers focused on climate solutions for the public good.

I had never heard of “sea use change”
big thanks to @michaelemann.bsky.social who gave me some crucial context/commentary on the way 'climate change' is talked about in Epstein's emails www.fastcompany.com/91490280/eps...
she somehow managed to lie about the very intentional racism in the video AND the animals present in Lion King
This isn’t some anonymous tip. This is sworn testimony, under penalty of perjury, from someone who said Trump threatened to kill her if she exposed Epstein’s sexual abuse.
And like... national and global governance 😬
