Big day at Absolute 🎉

There are projects that are stopping the flow of emissions into the tub and projects removing emissions from it. Both reductions and removals are critical. But if we conflate the two we risk never getting removals to meaningful scale, since reductions alone cannot “empty the bathtub.” 2/2

@carbon_180's bathtub graphic does a great job of simplifying the difference between reductions and removals. It also illustrates the importance of creating clear distinctions between the two. 1/2

We’re going to need an insane amount of both emissions reductions and negative emissions to reach our net zero target.

Reductions vs. Negative emissions require distinctly different approaches, but are too often conflated creating risks for buyers and project developers.
