Same here. Always have been. Anyone older who is family or close friends is called "aunt" or "uncle." Now that I'm "up there," I'm "aunt" to a slew of my friends' children, who introduce me as such.

Not defending him one way or another, but it's not at all unusual to call older cousins or other relatives, or even family friends, "aunt" or "uncle," and to think of them as such. It's how I was raised, as were my peers, and I'm an billionth generation American.

Whites do, too. How I was raised. And dear family friends were "Aunt" and "Uncle" to me, as well. And I thought of them as aunts and uncles. Now I'm Aunt to a passel of my friends' kids, and they introduce me as such.

I think it's just the opposite. He's doing whatever his handlers want. He's convinced he wants x, y, z -- like a parade or a patio or a ballroom -- so he does x, y, z.

Taking it further by drastically reducing holiday spending. No gifts for adults. Downsize gifts for the kids, explaining why. No lavish trips or expensive feasts. Spend locally. Keep the holidays simple and spend as little as possible. Hitting their bottom line during the crucial period.
