Awesome, it totally will! Playing music with others is such a special connection - and still counts as practice lol. Clarinet and flute (fingerings) are so similar too, they can each learn 2 instruments at once!

Feel that in my bones. If it wasn't for the excellent support I had from (non-parents) and a desire to play, I probably would have given up quickly

So great!! That's some of the best inspiration and encouragement she can have. Highly rec private lessons if there's a good affordable teacher in your area too - they made all the difference for me 😀

Encouragement from others, especially parents/teachers, is so important (obvs) & often is the main factor in developing the commitment to practice/desire to become the best you can be. Flute player here - love seeing this! My best band director always said dedication and (at least) 15 mins of practice a day is all it takes to be a musician.
