We’re talking National Year of Reading today & why it’s important
Here are my 3 favourite kids books
What are yours?
I’m so sorry this happened to you. What an unbearable tragedy. X
The hardest thing about covering the maternity scandal is the sheer number of mums (and dads) who have contacted me wanting to share their stories. It breaks my heart that we can't cover all of them.
But reading them has only strengthened my resolve to not let this story go.
If you'd like to watch the hour long special programme on maternity care - it's on YouTube. It's an emotional watch - but it's important

We're going to do it by amplifying the voices of those women.
We started today by getting some women in the studio for a live show. And if you've got a story - let us know. We're going to be doing everything we can to get them in front of politicians & NHS leaders who can do something about it.
We know the problems with maternity care. But nothing seems to change. It all seems to stay exactly the same.
And it's just not ok. So we're not going to move on and allow the news cycle to shift onto something else.
We're going to demand change.
But after we did that reporting, something quite extraordinary happened: We were inundated with emails.
I've been a journalist for 20yrs & I've never seen anything like it. Women whose lives were put at risk.Women who lost babies. Women who weren't listened to & were treated like vessels not humans
Before Christmas the Baroness Amos report into maternity and neonatal care was pretty horrific reading. Women not being listened to, mums and babies being harmed or even dying.
And perhaps most depressing of all...none of it was a surprise. Multiple reports over multiple years have told us the same
Yes I totally agree
I'm a late convert to test cricket but now absolutely love it.
I think it's one of the very few things in life comparable to a novel - with different acts, a specific setting, character arcs that rise and fall, the beginning may end up being nothing like the end

We’re covering this story today
Thanks for suggestions!
Good planning!!!
One can only dream
(And to pre-empt the comments, the programme is full of serious news from Budget fall out to Afghanistan inquiry to flooding in Indonesia to Wilf's interview with Salman Rushdie)
Are your Christmas lights up?
We're looking for a bit of brightness on this rainy Monday, send your pics to mornings@sky.uk
No
When @sophyridge.bsky.social, @bethrigby.bsky.social and @edconway.bsky.social all realised that the OBR has leaked the Budget early.
At 10.15am I’ll be doing an Insta live if you fancy asking me any Qs about Budget, new Morning show etc

I take your point! But I do think there's been a shift - first time Crown Prince in White House for 7 years, US selling warplanes to Saudi for first time, loads of business leaders and sports stars like Ronaldo rolling out the red carpet... quite something to see
Haha, I agree! The pure joy - bloody love it
