If a country sells more goods to us than it purchases, we are NOT losing money. It means that the other country either can’t afford our goods or there’s no demand for them. Vietnam manufactures a ton of goods that Americans buy at a low price, but the Vietnamese consumer cannot afford US products.

This needs to be repeated daily. Next time someone says this, ask them to show you the line item(s) in the budget showing a subsidy amount.
