My Roblox account turned 10 years old today! 2015 was the year I really started to use the Internet and began building an online presence. I don't touch the site anymore, but I still like modding my avatar into games(though I haven't gotten too many new games as of recent...)

Overall, I'd say that I'm really happy with my choice of laptop. I think I'll be sticking with Framework for the relative future, especially since this is a laptop that I can upgrade and repair practically any part of.

- I have to use Microsoft Word for a course to work on group lab reports. WinApps on Linux really helps with this, but my god I would rather be picked apart molecule by molecule trying to use their equation and graph editors. The VM oddities are a nice topping to the madness cake

Ugly:
- I have to ensure I have nothing plugged into my audio jack, otherwise the OS freezes on login and I need to force shut down. Sometimes it freezes on login regardless.
- I just realized while writing this, but the backlight on my numpad module is separate from the main keyboard, weird!

I went ahead with my decision to use bedrock linux, but I changed to Fedora KDE as the main os instead of the Cinnamon spin due to the software suite KDE had (also, easier access to flatpaks to start!!!). Everything past this MAY be because of my odd setup, but may also be actual OS problems.

- Keyboard is pretty nice, I am sort of downgrading from a mechanical keyboard on my laptop, but the travel is nice and I have officially moved on from my interest in RGB.
- Having a touchpad with gestures feels revolutionary to me, its a blast navigating with it and I only rarely use a mouse

...I didn't realize I was getting a 165Hz monitor until after I placed the order
- Fingerprint sensor is a nice plus(when it works, more on that later)
- Performance is respectable, though I honestly haven't drag raced it on much since it's more of a school laptop rn.

I've had a Framework 16 for a little over a month now (it arrived 2/5). Here's my thoughts on it currently.

Good:
- Battery Life is awesome, though I was going from a gaming laptop so my standards were pretty much last longer than 5 mintues off charge.
- Screen life is awesome...

So that just leaves one question. Should I try installing it under the pretense of seeing how things play out and also learning more Mandarin? [5/5]

I am not a Tiktok refugee, Never used Tiktok. I click onto youtube shorts then click right back out instead of scrolling. The only thing I'd get out of using 小红书 is the once in a lifetime chance to peek behind the curtain during this strange time. [4/5]

I'd feel like I have to just ignore a lot of discussion, mainly on the basis that I would get nuked if I said anything that goes against interests of the CCP. Who's to say how mundane that discussion needs to be in the future for me to get nuked? [3/5]

A few years ago I found channels talking about events that would go on in China, and the systematics of blocking a news story despite public outrage. I've kept up with them since, and while the commentators ham things up its hard to deny real video evidence. [2/jk this is 5]

I feel really conflicted rn about 小红书.

One one hand, it's prolly a VERY good way to help me practice Mandarin while I'm picking it back up again during college (I learned it thru 3rd-12th grade). On the other, I feel I'd be walking a VERY fine line when I'd speak/post about anything. [1/2]

I became a YIIK fan as an April Fools joke in 2022. Then I kept it up for a year, got two separate people to buy the game while I never actually played it, and got actually hyped for I.V's release since there was an SRB2P mod that would release alongside it.

I take April Fools seriously.

Next year, I’ll make this again but put an arduino hooked up to a speaker and motion detector inside it. It will do the Wega scream every time it detects movement.

Besides some fedora-isms I gotta get used to, the idea works within a VM. There's probably a better solution than this but I'll need something to offset the insanity of likely having to use Windows 11 instead of 10. [2/2]

I'm saving up for a framework 16, but theres only some linux distros that support its hardware. I'm considering using bedrock linux to base my install on Fedora 40 to get the drivers, then have Arch installed for all the AUR packages I use(like compiled Aseprite). [1/2]

How feasible would it be to use a raspberry pi model 2 B to host a bluesky pds? I know some people have already done it with later models but I haven’t seen anything on how viable the earlier models are for this task.

I tried using Typst to write up a small Computer Engineering related lab report. The experience felt pretty great, but mixing electrical circuits with logic gates was a no go. I'll have to stick with LaTEX for now but I'll keep my eye out as the packages develop.

Getting back into Pikmin 2 modding.

Guess we won’t need to get a fan translation! Very exciting to see The New Denpa Men announced in the latest direct. They did mention it was a timed exclusive though, I wonder what other platforms they will be putting this game on?

Modding scenes that are capable of code injection can have some of the coolest mods out there, but what if two mods try editing the same thing at once?

I explore this and other questions in the newest addition to my blog series on SRB2P, exploring how mods for that game interact with it!

Console output of Dlang's compiler "DMD" attempting to create an executable with Dlang code that includes the ufbx fbx library. The linker is throwing errors related to unresolved external symbols, blocking it from a sucessful compile.

One day I'll be able to get this FBX importer library working with Dlang...It's a little too macro and ifdef heavy for importC atm, but with it I could finally give that one Persona 5 Strikers mod I made back in 2021 some skeletal rigging.

I don't have a self-hosted PDS yet, so I'm probably not going be embedding images any time soon, but overall I enjoy the user experience of WhiteWind!

This is my first time making a blog on anything, but I've been wanting to talk about my experience with modding stuff for a while. I always seem to end up learning much more than I bargain for, which is fine by me.

I don’t think open world Pikmin would work well if you use the AAA style of open worlds. Pikmin thrives on the smaller-scope, but detail rich maps. Maybe if you made the usual style of maps, but add connections between other areas, then you’d get something interesting.

New Denpa Men game…
I played and beat the three main games on the 3DS, and then I helped get a translation project started for the f2p game that was also on the 3DS. Hopefully I can get this one translated as well when it releases!

I joined the team a year into their 2 year dev cycle. Most of my work on this project was handling the backend of the mod, cleaning up the save system, and being the general bug fixer. There was a lot of unique challenges I overcame and I'm glad I got to work on this mod!
