Ran @bradkerr.net 's Temple of 1,000 Swords adventure in Shadowdark recently as a last minute replacement for a sequenced module I realized I just wasn't jiving with. The group had a ridiculously good time, somehow perfectly threading grim creepiness and silly hijinks.
Governments and corporations aren't actually interested in keeping kids safe, because age verification tech could VERY EASILY be implemented in a way that doesn't compromise privacy at all.
But what they ACTUALLY want is an excuse to track you online and tie everything yo do to your government ID.
Once again, what's really insane about this age-verification rollout is that there's no reason why any company would actually need to receive the personally-identifying data at all - it could all be done locally with the device simply reporting "Yes" or "No."
But they WANT your data.
