Everyone who wears glasses is technically disabled.
And yet those are some of the most ableist people on earth.
Reality check sweetie, if it wasn't for your disability aids you woulda been dead.
Yo ass cant see! Without glasses you woulda stumbled to your death years ago🀣be nice to others

There's no better way to observe MLK Day than to go on the news and insist that the civil rights protesters objecting to police brutality are actually "paid agitators"

The white woman in Little Rock who took pity on Elizabeth Eckford as she was being mobbed by hundreds of screaming white adults?

Paid agitator.

I have always told my white students that they can acknowledge the harm that white supremacy has done, and choose to repair that harm, but I've advised them not to stay there.

You do have some fierce AF ancestors, too. It's just that we don't learn about them or what we learn is lies *on purpose.*

There’s a certain kind of aging provocateur who can’t imagine losing on the merits, so every loss becomes proof of discrimination.

Like... dude, you lost to Ricky Gervais. I don't think it was about "wokeness." variety.com/2026/awards/...

4. Because it is important to care about yourself and other people. If you do care about others: Remember that there is no such thing as someone who is β€œonly” high-risk. If only high-risk people die from that illness, why should I care about it?

If only high-risk people die from that illness, why should I care about it?

1. Because you should care about other people, whether or not they are high-risk. No person is disposable, so it’s important to take steps to protect the people around us. Even if you aren’t concerned about your health, taking steps to prevent illness also helps keep you from spreading illness to people who are even more vulnerable. And remember, you can’t always tell who is most vulnerable just by looking at them!

2. Because people of all ages and health histories can (and do) experience severe illness and die from common viruses. There is no virus that only affects people who are high-risk. Even if certain people are more likely to experience severe illness and death than others, even young and healthy people can and do die from illnesses like the flu, COVID-19, measles, RSV and more. All people should take viruses seriously, even if you are not considered high-risk.

3. Because dying isn’t the only risk. Even if data shows that most people do not die from a certain illness, many illnesses like COVID-19, measles, and more can cause significant long-term health consequences. These risks include permanent lung damage, memory loss, disability, and more. All people, with or without underlying health conditions, are at risk of these long-term conditions. It’s not only about living or dying. It’s also about protecting your quality of life and health you might not get back once it’s gone.

Four embroidery hoops. One is a bowl of pho with actual chop sticks stitched on. A sheep with real roving. A bird sitting on a real stick that says don’t feed the trolls. The back of a young girl in winter gear holding a 3d heart with curly red hair bouncing off the fabric.

Free workshops for chicago teens this month at different libraries! Extra dimensional embroidery. I made these little samples this weekend to help get their creative juices flowing and I am giddy. Still time to register.

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

Ok listen Hallmark made a legitimately amazing Hannukah movie.

It’s called Round And Round.

It is nerdy AF. It has D&D and comic books and time loops and Groundhog Day references the acting and writing is good and it’s very Jewish and I watch it every year and I highly recommend it.

I tend to have nuanced believes about family estrangement but mine are reported in histories of oppression whereas this need seems to very much be about white children as white property and not some nuanced critique of kinship ties.

If you’re dealing with a chronic illness flare, remember it’s ok to rest.

You’re not failing.

You didn’t do anything wrong.

You’re not being punished.

Flare ups happen and the best thing we can do is lean in to radical rest as much as possible.

Save your spoons and give yourself grace.
