Brussels is considering a 2nd car-free day, but what if air quality would be permanently better? Our research shows that if NOβ levels were permanently reduced to those of a car-free day, up to 1/3 of childhood asthma cases could be prevented.

π₯ Draghi warned last year - and again this year - that Europe is falling behind on competitiveness. The absurd case of tiny Linkebeek blocking extra rail tracks for 20 years (#NIMBY!) is a textbook example why Europe lags. It must become easier to build and deliver infrastructure.

Our study highlights spatial-seasonal air pollution patterns. Winter peaks and all-year elevated levels near traffic often exceed WHO limits. Vulnerable groups face higher NOβ exposure.

Stakingen bij het spoor leiden heel vaak tot enorme files op de weg. Omgekeerd is het zeer aannemelijk dat meer openbaar vervoer zou zorgen voor minder files dan gebruikelijk. Investeren in openbaar vervoer komt ook automobilisten ten goede.
