People say Boston is a white city because they don’t know Boston is a city in a majority minority metro where the Taiwanese American mayor succeeds in part because she campaigns in Haitian Kreyòl

nights
By Jaime Moore-Carrillo and Sadaf Tokhi Globe Staff and Globe Correspondent, Updated August 12, 2025, 8:46 p.m. The MBTA announced Tuesday that it would extend service on all subway lines

The agency also plans to lengthen nighttime service for select buses and ferries, including three Silver Line routes.

And for one month beginning in September, all service after 9 p.m. will be free on Friday and Saturday nights. Subway Frequency

• Orange Line frequency will improve every day due to taster observed turnaround times with the new car fleet. The number of weekday trips will also increase by 9% with the time between trains during peak hours on weekdays decreased by about 30 seconds.
• Blue Line frequency will improve slightly on weekdays. Bus Service
Improvements This Fall
Beginning August 24, notable bus upgrades this fall include:
• Route 1, 15, 22, 23, 28, 31: These six routes will become Frequent Bus Routes with service every 15 minutes or better all day, every day during operating hours.
• Route 15: Service will extend past St.
Peter's Square to Fields Corner
Station for all trips.

Arriving soon: a more frequent T, extended weekend service, and a month of fare-free T across all lines on weekend nights! Plus buses arriving every 15 minutes for some of our most popular routes, including the always-free 23 & 28 bus 🙌

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu at the House hearing on sanctuary cities:

"If you wanted to make us safe, pass gun reforms. Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting funds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe."

PowerCorps: legit one of the coolest programs we do in Boston. 10 months paid, hands-on training in urban forestry, building operations, green infrastructure - fields where we as a city + many employers can’t find enough workers and we know jobs will only grow.

Mayor Wu has always been a staunch advocate for city workers and it's been an honor to help her push paid family leave benefits at City Hall across the finish line.

When I had my first daughter in 2017, I was one of those city workers represented by a union and not covered by the first roll out.

Lol, Celeste's take in this thread sums up my reaction to folks' *many* opinions today on our Mayor being one of the first mayors of a major city in this country to give birth while in office.

Today’s very cynical @bostonglobe.com editorial eyeroll at the initial BPS-only pilot phase of our Boston Family Days free museum program overlooks the operational work to launch & sustainably run a program of this scale. Sharing a bit of the reality behind how it works: 🧵

When you hear “cut the budget instead”—what they’re not saying out loud: given state law, every $1 cut from tax levy would benefit commercial property owners 2-to-1 over residential—wouldn’t provide relief for residents unless we decimate City services.

The Mayor of Boston tried to do the right thing for the average #mapoli Boston homeowner. Big business & their legislative cronies have put their thumbs on the scale against the little guy. Homeowners will remember that Mayor Wu was on their side.
