We will be banging pans in solidarity with the hunger strikers in UK prisons still awaiting fair trial, followed by a silence to grieve the many many lives lost during this appauling genocide.

Dear Mark Tami, Gill German, Becky Gittins and Andrew Ranger. We are writing to express our absolute outrage at Israel’s further escalation of tensions in the Middle East and continued contempt for international law following its brazen attack on neutral Qatar. In recent months Israel has attacked Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Iran and Tunisia, as well as its near two year long genocidal assault on Palestinians in Gaza. All of this has been met with inaction by the UK government and the so-called international community. We call on you as our representatives to demand our government provides an explanation as to why an RAF Airbus KC3 Voyager was flying off the coast of Qatar at the time of the attack? We also call on you to demand our government: impose a full arms embargo on Israel; the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador; and impose a swathe of economic and diplomatic sanctions on Israel, as it has made it abundantly clear that it has no interest in peace, stability or international law. Finally, in light of all the above, we request that you urgently demand that the Prime Minister’s meeting with the Israeli President Isaac Herzog, scheduled for today, is cancelled. It is entirely inappropriate for the Prime Minister to be meeting the head of state of a country on trial for genocide, whose Prime Minister is wanted by the ICC for war crimes and whose actions contravene international law on a daily basis. Palestine Activists Attacked On Saturday night during Bwncath’s set at the Eisteddfod, a couple of our group members Dominique and Leigh were attacked by a group of men for waving Palestinian flags in the crowd. While in the crowd, our activists were pushed and knocked down, had the flag poles ripped out of their hands and snapped into pieces, they were later checked by paramedics and have sustained bruises, a head injury and one who has EDS had to have joints relocated. Violence against peaceful protesters and activists is unacceptable and a direct result of our government’s crackdown on legitimate protest and its continued support for genocide. The Eisteddfod translates to “sitting together”, and exists to celebrate Welsh culture in all its forms. For most of the week, we received largely positive reception at Y Babell Heddwch and around the Maes as we flew the flags in solidarity with Palestine. As a country with its own painful history of settler colonialism, it felt right to continue to draw attention to the ongoing situation in Palestine - many of the acts who performed also waved flags and spoke in solidarity. Palestine Activists Attacked While we are incredibly thankful for the handful of bystanders who did intervene and assist us, the amount of cheering the assault received was incredibly disheartening. The whole event has left us quite shaken and is a brutal reminder that while there is a lot of public support for the Palestinian cause - there is still a long way to go and the fight must continue. Leigh and Dominique defiantly remained for the entirety of Bwncath’s set, continued to fly the flags (as much as they could without the flagpoles) and smiled in the face of ignorance and harassment. Any words or support for our activists would be greatly appreciated. Rhyddid i Balesteina rŵan!
