I don't really know where the "old books are too difficult to read" thing comes from - if it's early modern or later, there are very few language issues to overcome

Doing a Moll Flanders reread this week, for bookish reasons - and can honestly say, it's an easier read, purely at a sentence level, than a lot of contemporary romantasy
