Our urban forests are irreplaceable! Trees bring shade, clean air, flood protection, climate benefits & health benefits. Toronto City Council will be voting soon on a plan for stronger private trees protection.

More than 50% of climate pollution in Toronto comes from burning gas to heat buildings
The good news is, we can solve this.
TEA's Sarah Buchanan spoke to @nowtoronto.bsky.social about the damage caused by Ford's attack on Toronto's green roof bylaw ➡️ nowtoronto.com/news/this-ex... #topoli
Wait are the feds now greenwashing their own greenwashing rules
The public wants buildings that are climate-safe, well-built, efficient & affordable to operate. Check out our new poll showing strong local support in Toronto for green building requirements. https://loom.ly/MeYNQkk
Summer should be a time to enjoy being outside, not feel anxiety & isolation under smoky skies.
It's ok to feel like this isn't normal. These #wildfires are fueled by tinder dry forests from a warming planet. To fight them, we must stop burning climate-heating fossil fuels.
But you're not alone!
If you are one of the 75,000 people who take the TTC on Dufferin & Bathurst every day, you know this view: stuck in traffic.
We urge Council to support these vital transit lanes today including plans from @MayorOliviaChow & @BravoDavenport to get moving on lanes north of Bloor.
In which @graphicmatt.com calls the case for bus lanes on Dufferin ‘just an absolute backboard-shattering slam dunk.’
Council votes Wednesday on these important bus and streetcar lanes,. Make sure to have your voice heard before then!
Send a letter to your councillor: https://www.ttcriders.ca/lanes
Toronto needs more dedicated transit lanes to move more people. Toronto Region Board of Trade just endorsed both Bathurst & Dufferin #RapidTO lanes up to Eglinton.
Their message?
These lanes are good for business because they are proven to reduce congestion. We need these lanes! #topoli
Congrats to @mayoroliviachow.ca & @alejandrabravo.bsky.social on sparking an overhaul of TO's Heat Relief Strategy, including checking on vulnerable populations, funding more water, & considering return of 24/7 cooling centres. Long overdue & needed!
Agenda item: secure.toronto.ca/council/agen...
We're happy to see the City's heat relief strategy getting a rethink, & hopefully stronger measures to protect Torontonians from heatwaves like this one. Protecting peoples means planning for a much hotter future. #topoli
If you want to see faster transit on Bathurst or Dufferin, your voice is needed! Drop ins tonight and beyond.
Let’s fight tariffs by generating way more of our own local renewable energy in Toronto instead of buying crappy American gas! Speak up here before next week’s vote: www.torontoenvironment.org/green_soluti...
This is really the whole ball game right now, *particularly* among the institutions that make up civil society.
(my parents definitely had this poster when I was growing up)
Any suggestions for best Canadian-made potato chips?
A developer lobby group is legally challenging local green building policies in Ontario that are meant to make new homes less polluting and more community-friendly.
Great point- this tool could bring in hundreds of millions to sustain big investments into TTC service, flood prevention, climate action….where is it hiding?
I’ve seen many petitions floating around calling for oil & gas corps to pay for climate disaster damage. I invite ppl to post links to them as replies here so i can sign them all at once. Please also consider supporting the many great orgs pursuing legal action like @ecojusticecanada.bsky.social
You know your kid has been inside too long when he starts up an imagination game called Outside World for the whole family
The Transportation Tomorrow Survey from 2022 that Minister Sarkaria and Doug Ford were hiding has been released. It shows cycling commute mode share is up 300% in Old Toronto since 2001. Now sitting at 11.3% in Old Toronto wards (4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14), 10x bigger than "1.2%"!
My @torontostar.bsky.social column: I don’t want to jinx it, but there are signs of surging TTC use in Toronto’s downtown
The TTC & City Hall should seize the opportunity to grow ridership more. Things like undercover fare inspectors won’t help. Better service will.

Is this really where we’re at? Tricking people into paying fines for a trip that probably took too long and arrived late? Better idea: let’s make transit free and avoid all this crap
Come say hi tomorrow night at TEA's annual fundraiser - we've got some awesome city-themed trivia in the works, plus the usual merriment and great people! www.torontoenvironment.org/celebration_...
Lol "Sarkaria, a Brampton MPP, told reporters Thursday that removing the right to sue is a way to protect cyclists" - they are really scraping the bottom of the comms barrel here: www.thestar.com/news/gta/may...
Hi! Finally made the journey over here! What's the advice - do i leave a sad husk of a profile over on X or just bail completely
