The phenomenal @nicoleasbury.bsky.social was laid off today by @washingtonpost.com. Nicole is a brilliant & impactful reporter and in my time as an education advocate, I’ve been thoroughly impressed by her professionalism & passion for her work. She deserved better, & so did MoCo parents.
Some of my favorites are now gone. I was only subscribing at this point for the waning local coverage. I called to cancel today. I can’t believe this timeline we’re in destroyed democracy and the newspaper that I thought of as the exemplar of great journalism & courage for decades

Those were the rules I was taught when I first learned to shoot. Plus the first rule (not as relevant for law enforcement who know they are carrying a loaded weapon), which is to assume the firearm is loaded. Their gun handling alone shows how untrained they are.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.
Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.
