13. THE UGLY STEPSISTER ('25) This Norwegian film, a darkly satiric/feminist update of the Cinderella story, is squirm-inducing and often downright disgusting (laudatory). If you liked The Substance you'll want to see this, perhaps on a double bill?

Those hunters were much scarier than any Wendigo, that’s for sure. And Patricia Clarkson & Jason Weber are really excellent as the wife & husband. Whatever its flaws, this movie is sitting really well for me today.

10. THE DISEMBODIED ('57) 1950s B-movie goddess Allison Hayes is the only reason to sit through this silly, stilted potboiler about a gorgeous white voodoo queen manipulating all the men around her on a tropical island. Allison is hot, movie is not.

9. FREDDY VS. JASON ('03) Freddy Kruger wants to slaughter more teens and first needs to align w/ Jason Voorhees to facilitate his plans. But Jason can't/won't be controlled, so that climactic rumble commences. It's all really dumb but sorta fun, with a sympathetic final girl.

TBH I’ve never thought any of the films in the series were all that great, they’re perfectly fine but I can’t really remember any genuinely standout episodes.

That’s been a given for a long long time now.

6. THE PLUMBER ('79) Tale of an academic couple whose bathroom is invaded by the titular worker, who proceeds to subtly menace the wife. Naturally the husband continually disbelieves her growing fears. This highly uncomfortable study in class warfare was directed by Peter Weir. #31HorrorFilms31Days
