The best part about all of this is that we've stayed true to our values and decided to not raise prices in the past couple of years, when we were not profitable. Why? Because most of our customers are SMBs and creators and depend on Buffer to share content and connect with their community.

Our formula has the following components and weight for each category:

(40%) Equal split between all current employees
(40%) Employee's current salary
(20%) Tenure

Last month alone (July 2025), Buffer made more in profits than we had ever made in a year since Buffer has existed (271K).

Hot take: Companies that share their profits with employees, outperform those that don't. At Buffer we have a Profit Share program in place and we made 271K USD in profits just last month. At the end of the year, profits are shared with all employees using a formula that rewards tenure and impact

In my team at Buffer to leverage AI and its pace and speed we are prioritizing building instead of over-thinking, long meetings and over-designing. A long term vision is key and clearly defined, but when it comes to execution, projects are a lot more fluid now. We ship fast, but stay in Beta longer.

Soon I'll be celebrating 6 years at Buffer. A company that's followed an atypical path. Focusing on profitability instead of raising additional rounds of capital from investors, doing 4-day workweeks for the past 2+ years and recently, we even decided to get rid of all meetings. Ask me anything.

El camino no convencional suele funcionar mejor en Product Management. He visto a amigos tener éxito usando estas mismas estrategias. Ten paciencia, sé persistente y, sobre todo, construye cosas 👷‍♂️

El mercado está difícil ahora para posiciones junior. Pero recuerda: Todo PM empezó en algún lugar. Concéntrate en demostrar tu valor a través del trabajo real, no solo aplicaciones.

Consejo para el CV: Solo incluye experiencia relevante. Elimina trabajos no relacionados. Sé preciso sobre tu experiencia en producto – no infles números. Calidad > Cantidad.

¿No sabes programar? No hay problema. Usa herramientas de IA (yo recomiendo Claude) para ayudarte con el desarrollo. Pero aprender programación básica nunca está de más. La clave es ser ingenioso y lanzar algo que la gente use realmente.

Otro enfoque: Lanza 1-2 proyectos reales para ONGs locales o pequeños negocios. O anímate a lanzar un proyecto real propio. Esto te obliga a:

Hablar con usuarios
Construir algo real que la gente quiera usar
Iterar con feedback
Experiencia perfecta de PM 😉

Los y las mejores PMs piensan como fundadores. Demuéstralo haciendo trabajo previo para productos que amas. Sí, esto significa invertir tiempo sin retornos garantizados, pero así es como destacas en un mercado saturado.

Pero aquí está la clave: No dependas sólo de tu CV. En vez de eso, muestra trabajo real de producto:

Puedes hacer recomendaciones reales de Producto
O ideas de nuevos productos para lanzar
Rediseña su flujo de onboarding
Señala y corrige problemas
Comparte un análisis de expansión de mercado

Encuentra 5-10 startups pequeñas que te gusten (en mi experiencia las startups de crypto suelen ser remotas 100%). Contacta directamente a los fundadores o personas del equipo sobre prácticas pagadas/no pagadas de 3-6 meses con un período de prueba de 1 mes. Así es menos riesgo para ellos
