Only a fool would look at a painting and think its subject was actually 3-dimensional, much less the object portrayed. How foolish are we to think this reality we construct is _the_ reality, that is in some sense, more real and certainly more permanent than we are?

But what other choice is there?

The "real world" is the result of this sixth sense. Just like your vision, it as an amalgamation, only of experience and time and therefor memory. It is just as much a construct, just as much filtered and limited by our biology.

Now realize that you can't see without the process of seeing. Even Buddha never saw the world "as it really is." Not directly.

And that's because there is no world "as it really is." No world absent the self, absent interaction/observation.

We still see it as 3D when we use one eye because the brain is still compressing the image, from the least info out to the most

I don't know, is it defeatist to say that all this has happened before and that it will happen again, that the only real past or future is, has always been, and always will be here, wrapped up in everything we observe now? The greatest delusion is that you can escape the wheel. Where would you go?

I'm surprised it's not #1. It's not uncommon for young service members to get married in initial training, in large part because it gets you out of the barracks and all that. Then they get divorced at their first duty station.
