If anything, hopefully it shines a light on the fact that we, as a culture, need to step up and reengage with the arts...but it'll probably be end here and be forgotten with the next foot in mouth comment made by someone on a press tour.
Though I understand that he comes off as dunking on these art forms, but that's probably because the comment was made off the cuff and without much thought.

America has a long history of ignoring the arts. Which is product of capitalism as a construct, and a sentiment only deepened under the current regime.
Sad fact is, most people feign outrage have never been to a ballet or sat through an opera.
When the studio system finally bottoms out, perhaps then we can recalibrate this whole "every movie has to make a billion dollars" narrative and let films be art.
