I feel that second part tho. It's called escapism. Short term joys borrowing happiness from the future. Life is so full of distractions that sometimes (most times):

I've adopted a bit of a minimalist lifestyle and i feel a lot mentally lighter and happier.
Live in the here and now.

I feel the exact opposite. Being in tune with our senses, being aware of emotions, feelings, surroundings, the small beautiful things in life - is what makes life so awesome.

The occasional disconnect/reset is necessary, most people do it by drinking until they pass out tho
