Watched 'Scarpetta' on Amazon Prime. Stars Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. It's absolutely AWFUL. I've never seen a book so badly translated to screen. It's as if they think Patricia Cornwell was writing for Hallmark.

An article “More than one million foreign nationals are receiving benefits”
(March 17, 2025) referred to the number of “foreign nationals” receiving
benefits, and gave the rate of benefit claims for various nationalities. In fact,
the particular DWP data on which the article was based recorded the
nationality of claimants when registering for a National Insurance number,
rather than the nationality at the time they were claiming benefits, so that
some claimants might have since acquired UK citizenship, and would not be
foreign nationals at the time they were claiming benefits. This correction has
been published following an upheld ruling by the Independent Press
Standards Organisation.

Fully *one year later*, the Telegraph has been forced (by @ipso.co.uk) to admit that it was lying about foreign nationals claiming benefits.

The Inquisition Comes To Lambeth: When Your Party's Heresy-Hunters Turned On Their Own - Heartlands What happened in Lambeth on the 2nd of March was not a political disagreement. It was a trial. The accused was Valerie Coultas, a socialist feminist with more

Make the "Left" read again.

"This is not bigotry. It is not even controversial. It is the kind of patient, materialist thinking that the British left once regarded as its most essential characteristic."

I think "left" in quotes is needed everywhere currently. The "left" now is ideologically-illiterate and toothless.

Disorders of sex development are rare. The word sex matters because it's about sex not gender identity. Also, importantly, DSDs are also associated male and female sex: females don't get male DSDs No one is 'in between'. A few misunderstandings of DSDs does not mean 'sex is assigned' everywhere.

For those challenging my position: the *only* way to 'live as a woman' is to be female. 'Gender identity' relies entirely on (mostly regressive) socially constructed stereotypes which change over time and across the world. Clothing, mannerisms, interests, personality ... these do not define woman.

Women are adult human females. That's it. That's how one becomes a woman. Everything else is socially constructed, changes throughout history, across countries, in religions, cultures, etc. The only accurate, consistent way to 'live as a woman' is to be an adult human female.

The article you posted reads 'gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed.' It's right! Men are male, women are female - human sex is binary & immutable. Notions of 'gender identity' differ across time and societies so are not innate. Have a day.

No one has an 'innate and inherent sense of gender identity' because it's a socially construct. A trans identifying man embracing sexist stereotypes of what it is 'to live as a woman's isnt innate or inherent. To suggest so is sexist codswallop. And human sex is observed and recorded not 'assigned'.

a woman says stop saying that in front of a doorway ALT: a woman says stop saying that in front of a doorway

The phrase 'live as a woman's is so regressive. How does anyone 'live as a woman'? Does it mean dresses and make up? Are cup cakes involved? Stilettos essential? How does a man 'live as a woman' other than by adopting oppressive, sexist stereotypes? The whole idea is deeply, deeply sexist.

"Individualism is antithesis of unionism. It serves one, not many. Most scant amount of class analysis will reveal the extent to which women remain poorly represented with the levers of power."

I wonder if 'the left' will ever recognise its treatment of women in pandering to trans identifying men.

International Women’s Day? When you enable a male to take up a place on a delegation for a women’s trade union delegation, you deny a woman her place, as well as deny all the women she may represent.

"When a man gains a place on a trade union women’s delegation he is not there to represent women, he is there to represent his own needs. He places these over and above those of women, and is assisted by the very organisation that should tell him to step aside." tuseen.substack.com/p/internatio...

The hypocrisy of condemning Epstein while supporting ‘sex work’ IN CLASS-BASED society, there are huge numbers of girls who are disadvantaged almost from the moment of their conception, destined to be unloved, unwanted, poor.Virginia Giuffre described these girls ...

"... we are told that Epstein was a “one-off,” that “sex work is work” and that only “pearl-clutchers” could possibly condemn prostitution."

This is American propaganda using footage from previous American propaganda. This is how America has presented justice in TV and cinema for generations. It's naff, yeah, but it's very American. I'm only surprised it's taken so long to do this.

[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.]

From off-screen a newsreader’s commentary comes:

NEWSREADER:

Extraordinary images here

of an expat in Dubai

[The influencer’s eybrows raise slightly]

…Having their first ever geopolitical thought.

[CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencer’s face. The interviewee’s name is David Jones].

CLIVE MYRIE:

To explain the significance of this moment we’re joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent

DAVID JONES:

Clive, this is momentous

It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: ‘Dubai Is Brilliant’.

[Pointing at the screen, the influencer’s expression still the same]

You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self.

It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expat’s previous thoughts.

CLIVE MYRIE:

Which are…?

DAVID JONES:

You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes,
I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa.

CLIVE MYRIE:

And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days?

DAVID JONES:

I think we can expect to see:

“I Deserve To Be Airlifted By A Country I Pay No Tax To”

CLIVE MYRIE:

Mmm.

Council issues update on 'family voting' in Gorton and Denton by-election Election observers said they had seen 'concerningly high levels' of the illegal voting practice during last week's by-election

I'd like to know who 'Democracy Volunteers' are and how they recruit. Their attitude, in response to legitimate questions from journalists in the area they're commenting on, is very odd.
