She only lasted an year in our class and was gone the next year.

This memory often pops up when people talk about anime/manga with a tall girl in it and are mad/confused that by tall they don't mean 2 meters+ lol, it's all relative. The average Japanese woman is like barely 160cm!

People always make fun of that Tall Girl movie whenever they remember it, that it's such an absurd concept, but I had a classmate that was fairly tall, not even close to like basketball player high, but higher than the average girl and she was very much bullied for it quite a bit.

Oh wow I’m surprised, I didn’t bother post ep 1 bc I found it really ugly, but the way I saw people who stuck with it talk I thought they made a good and satisfying ending

still watch them, before it starts they talk about how much they suck, while watching it they hate it and after it's done they complain that it's bad and yet the same things keep on repeating

the thing about the game awards is that people don't like them, it's gotten worse and worse every year purely as a watching experience, it's long and boring, the nominations are never TRULY the most standout, not every award even gets the attention it deserves and yet every year people

Biggest surprise in Tetsujin 28 (2004) so far is that the kid is actually ballsy as hell.

Even at the end where everything is finally over we think they'll finally show her old, like how she currently is and no, it for some reason, in the real world, switches to her being young and the rest of the cast. It almost looks like they all died and are going to heaven young again!!!

The most annoying part is that this is all about Remy, our singular female lead, so her getting such attention, to be fleshed out sounds great, but here's the thing... they never show her old. At the start they hide her face, we see the rest of the cast being older, not her.

that our leads and our ex-antagonists served in the army together or something, almost, but that's not the case. At the start there's a whole museum about their exploits as the Goshogun squad, so it's not some alternative timeline or anything. It constantly sends you mixed messages.

When you do narratives connected to dreams and whatnot you have to connect them to the character. Beyond her actual childhood flashbacks, things that did happen, everything else makes no sense. Why the Middle Eastern city? Why the huge cat?? It almost looks like it implies

Kenta isn't mentioned at all. The bad guys are now good friends with our leads and an important part of the emotional core of the whole thing, why? A lot of mindless imagery, sure none of this was established in the TV series, but it wasn't established in this either!

I don't think I've wanted to like something more before, but I just can't. Very frustrating watch because at the end of the day they're still the Goshogun characters, but also not really. Beyond a lil cameo Goshogun isn't mentioned, just implied "like in the good old days" sort of thing.

Gakuen Senki Muryou perhaps?

It's kinda trippy/interesting, but not really enough to engage, doesn't feel like a wild mystery slowly unfolding or anything like that

I'm like 55 minutes into The Time Étranger and I don't think I like it, I knew in advance that it's very different from the Goshogun tv series so I don't mind, but it's such a weird entry still. Makes me wonder why even bother making it a Goshogun thing

If other shows did this I think it'd be way more bittersweet about it all, but Goshogun just filled me confidence, warmth and hope.

Every time Kenta is made to choose he is given full control, he is given knowledge so that his decision can be educated, but still his own. Multiple characters go on about not forcing him into anything, that they won't stop him from going down the path he chose. Real moving stuff.

Really comes off as a show all about you making your own choice in life, following what you think is right, especially when concerning children and their parents. Almost like a "children are our future, but we should let them decide what said future is!".

I know there's still the movie and I will watch it(although I know some people borderline treat it as a spin-off thing rather than genuine sequel), but man I'm shocked how much I loved Goshogun, really charming show and has such a good child character in Kenta.

Funniest where are they now of all time, all my protagonists are bums(besides OVA) and all the antagonist generals are living life
