Alt-text recommendations
*Keep it short and sweet. If it’s too long to Tweet it’s probably too long to be alt text. This means authors of quotes or books.

*Ask yourself: What visual elements are essential in order to understand the image? That’s your alt text.
EXCEPTION:
*If an image has text in it, make sure to write out or copy/paste the image text verbatim as alt text. Use correct spelling, grammar, etc.
*Is there vital information contained in this image? (e.g. URL, date/time of an event) If yes, then it should go in your alt text.
*Include the names of people when their identities are important to the image’s context.

Some folks rely on screen readers. Adding a description of any images in the alt-text is the kind thing to do.

This means copying any text VERBATIM into the alt-text, or a SUMMARY with key info if it's too long. Esp. for important messages.

For events, books, mobilizing, etc., a link helps. 🫢🏾

Authors,
When sharing pictures of your book or event with no alt-text, it's impossible for people who rely on screen readers to get that info.

And people actively searching BSky for the book, topic, or concern won't see it .

And including a link to buy book or register for event just makes sense.

There are millions of working class people with good politics who didn’t get Nazi tattoos and wouldn’t treat their staff poorly.

Some of them surely live in Maine! A few of them are probably great communicators!

This ain’t the guy.

How do you have solidarity with people of color as a supposed progressive stanning a politician we all hate because he wants to hate crime us. Literally white people who fall for Platner get the fuck up & stand for something other than yourselves because this is a crisis we're in.

Nobody is doubting the Nazi mercenary is good at communicating: that's why he's dangerous.

True for some Americans. Before, convenience costs more, so many households continued making meals from scratch.

β€˜A deliberate poisoning’: how a banned pesticide haunts the French Caribbean Prostate cancer rates are among the world’s highest in Guadeloupe and Martinique, where chlordecone was widely used on plantations for more than 20 years

In Cancer Alley (LA) or the French Caribbean, a battle.

Guadeloupe and Martinique, part of France AND the EU, have some of the highest rates of prostate cancer in the world. For decades, workers and activists have fought for recognition of chlordecone’s devastating health and environmental impacts.

Taking a Line for a Walk
Alexander Calder & Paul Klee:
Artists Alexander Calder (1898-1976) and Paul Klee (1879-1940) each playfully abstracted forms from nature and everyday life. This gallery is inspired by Klee's 1925 description of the starting point of artistic creation as "an active line on a walk. Both Calder and Klee explored this principle in different mediums. Some of their works maintain a closer relationship to the figures, objects, and environments they depict, while others are much more abstracted. What forms and similarities do vou find in Calder's and Klee's work?
A 1914 trip to Tunisia inspired the Swiss-born Klee to begin producing colorful, highly personal, and often abstracted landscapes. Through a range of styles, Klee attempted to represent his individual, theoretica understanding of the natural world. A dialogue with the environment. he asserted in 1923. is essential, as the artist is "a man, himself nature. and a part of nature within natural space."
American artist Calder's encounter with Klee's work and ideas in the late 1920s shaped his explorations of abstraction. His kinetic sculptures suggest living organisms or environments through evocative biomorphic forms, or bear titles that encourage recognition.

Vegetarian Haitian spaghetti with more sauce, mushrooms, sausage, vegetables...

Wanted sonething lighter that could be eaten without reheating.

I usually make it with a tomato sauce. I didn't make the sauce to avoid stove heat. Pasta was couple min, and veg was done in air fryer.

Heavier version with sauce, mushrooms, Field Roast vegan sausage & whatever random vegetables. 🍽

Once everything is chopped, so easy to make.

Even a bag of frozen mixed vegetables works and it's faster. πŸ₯¦πŸ«‘πŸŒΆ

Haitian Spaghetti - A Unique Spin on the Italian Version- The Foreign Fork Haitian Spaghetti is a flavorful pasta dish made with tomato sauce, diced veggies and chopped hot dogs to enjoy a taste from the island.

β€œAmerican processed foods such as Spam, hot dogs, Vienna sausage, canned corned beef, and American cheese feature sometimes quite prominently,” says Olaechea.

β€œItalian-style pasta products were also introduced by Americans, who had adopted it from Italian immigrants."

Also eaten for breakfast! 🍽

Actually my bad, it's NOT smoked sausage. It's usually made with cut up hot dogs and often sliced boil eggβ€” even more delicious.

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

It's not the same as real Haitian Spaghetti with the smoked sausage and boiled eggs (and a lot else missing), but tasty enough.

The French Tian Is a Rainbow of Colorful Veggies A French tian is a popular way to eat roasted vegetables. This traditional layered dish from Provence makes a lovely appearance on any table.

It's easy, and I ended up making slightly thicker slices. Still came out well.

This is the French Tian. When I make this, I'm hiding a layer of cooked butter beans on the bottom.

Yep, but it didn't take long for parties to form. And there have also been third parties.

"In 1790, worried that factions would turn into political parties, George Washington said:

'Let me warn you, in the most solemn manner, against the baneful effects of the spirit of party.' "
