We adore aged Riesling and Pinot Noir! 2002, 2008 and 2010 Rieslings, serene and thrilling. Pinot Noir from 2007, fleshy and deep. More have just arrived from Peter Querbach in Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau.
A striking lunch at KOL. Bold and yet subtle. Friendly and professional. 👏👏
Great to have Mosel Riesling legend Clemens Busch at last night’s tasting in Fulham! Slight hiccup - he showed up at our shop in W9. Swiftly rectified. Top scorers were Clemens’ Nonnengarten & Marienburg Kabinett tied 1st followed by Spätburgunder Sekt, vom grauenschiefer & La Fleur Poitou in =3rd.
Our next tasting Monday 23rd February 17.00-20.00 in our shop at 797 Fulham Rd when we will be joined by legendary winemaker Clemens Busch, the man who almost 50 years ago first showed that it was possible to make dry Riesling in the Mosel Valley. 1 sparkling, 4 Riesling, 2 Bordeaux. bit.ly/4mf72ig
The opportunity to meet Emmanuel & Laurence Verrier and to taste four of their fabulous Champagnes was a major draw on Thursday night! No-one was letting the interminable rain dampen their resolve. Top scorers were Verrier’s Champagne Tradition, tied with Cirò followed by Pyjama & Verrier’s Fleuron.
A week ago, we were picking up at Champagne Verrier, topping up supplies for tomorrow’s tasting in Clifton Road from 17.00-20.00h.
Emmanuel and Laurence Verrier will be with us tomorrow evening and we will have not just one but four of their fabulous Champagnes in the lineup!
You are invited to our next tasting on Thursday 12th February 17.00-20.00h at our shop in Clifton Rd W9. It’s a very special tasting: we will be joined by Emmanuel & Laurence Verrier and we will have not just one but four of their fabulous Champagnes in our line-up! Don’t tell anyone! bit.ly/4mf72ig
What have we here? Our latest arrival from Bordeaux. Woohoo! Another hit of the sumptuous Château Bonnange 2020, Clos de Bonnange 2016 and latest release Malbec, the 2024.
Another impressive meal at The Silver Birch in Chiswick 😋. Parsley velouté, salt cod mousse mmmm and not only that…
We stumbled across André Fays Champagne on a pickup run to France during Covid. On our way from Burgundy this week, we stopped to catch up with Marie Fays, current incumbent at her small family domaine in Celles-sur-Ource. Her Champagnes are super: fresh yet ample. We’re planning our next shipment!
Burgundy - rain, mist, shine. Went to see our excellent friend Russell Hone (not pictured here), good to bump into and catch up with Paul Wasserman. Drank wine and had a walk in the vineyards above Beaune.
Why Calais? It’s pretty much because of one restaurant: Le Channel. Outstanding wine list, wonderful fish and seafood, the warmest welcome. We started coming here in 1998 or 1999. Any excuse to stay over in Calais and we are there!
Destination Calais - via Sandgate to drop off dry German Riesling by Gerrit Walter and Prinz, and Californian Chardonnay by Hafner to the marvellous John Dory.
Last night you came from Fulham and beyond, from France and further! Top scorer was Pfirmann’s dry Gelber Muskateller (Yellow Muscat) followed in joint second by Champagne Amyot’s Blanc de Blancs and Aurélien Chatagnier’s Viognier. Two tastings next month with visiting growers. Excited!
You are invited to our next tasting at The Winery Fulham on Monday 26th January from 17.00-20.00h. The theme is BOLD & AROMATIC. Champagne, Rhône, Mosel, Pfalz, Beaujolais, Piedmont and Ribera del Duero. bit.ly/4mf72ig
Our tastings are very casual. Feel free to bring a friend.
Another great lunch at Hunan London, this time with our excellent former colleague Ryan Bair. Thanks as always to Michael Peng and team.
Exquisite meal at Silver Bitch in Chiswick for our staff Christmas dinner. A wonderful evening! We ate and drank with the Gods. Additional thanks to Eduard and Conrad who were looking after us.
What could be better than a Wine Tasting at The Winery Fulham after a dim, drizzly, grizzly day? Tuesday’s top scorer was Raimbault’s newly arrived Sancerre 2024.
We were picking up in Burgundy last month. First stop, the Guillemot family in Savigny-les-Beaune. In the photo, brothers Philippe and Vincent with parents and David M. Beautiful, perfumed Burgundian Pinot Noir. We have one in our line-up at The Winery Fulham tomorrow, 09.12.25 from 17.00-20.00h.
Deliveries to Scotland! Not something we do frequently. Clemens Busch magnums door to door delivery from the Mosel to Timberyard in Edinburgh. Then off to the Borders (via Fife?!).
Stopping off at the fantastic Tebay Services in both directions.
On the road again, picking up in Germany. After a long drive, a quick overnighter at Zum Krug. Gänsebraten mit Rotkohl (roast goose with red cabbage) with a 1966 Hocheimer Neuberg Riesling Spätlese by Aschrott. Good call, Josef Junior!
It may have been cold outside but the intrepid (or, rather, the warmly-dressed) made it through. Querbach’s 2008 Riesling tied with Champagne Amyot’s Cuvée Réservée at the top.
You are invited to our next tasting on Wednesday 19th November from 17.00-20.00h at our shop in Clifton Road W9. Champagne, Chablis, 2 Rheingau Rieslings, & reds from Burgundy, Piedmont & Rhône are in the line-up. bit.ly/4mf72ig
Our tastings are v casual, drop in anytime, feel free to bring a friend.
Glorious aged Riesling and aged Pinot Noir! Our latest pallet from Peter Querbach has just arrived from the Rheingau. We can all revel again in timeless dry Rieslings from 2010, 2008 and 2002, sweet 1994 and 2007 Pinot. We may even have one open at our tasting on Wednesday…just saying.
1-2-3 shipments from Italy! All in one day 😅. Two from Tuscany and one from Piedmont. La Colombina Brunello, boom. Dreolino Chianti Rufina, yum. Pugnane Barolo, kerr-pow!
Heralding a flurry over the coming weeks, a welcome arrival from Pascal Chalon in the southern Rhône. Pure, fragrant, deep saturated fruit. Powerful, yet elegant. Biodynamic. No surprise that some of the labels & names have changed again but La Petite Ourse and La Grande Ourse remain as benchmarks.
Busy buzzy tasting at The Winery Fulham last night! Close at the top: a draw between Ursa Major Blanc, Pascal Chalon’s remarkably elegant southern Rhône white & Viña Sastre’s Ribera del Duero Crianza. Followed by Gerrit Walter’s sparkling Riesling Sekt & Wrath’s grownup Syrah. See you again soon!
You are invited to our next tasting on Thursday 16th October from 17.00-20.00h in our shop at 797 Fulham Road SW6 5HD. Germany, France, California and Spain are all represented.

Our tastings are very casual, just drop in anytime and feel free to bring a friend.
Jonas & Martin Müllen, son and father team based in Traben-Trarbach on the Mosel. Utterly distinctive dry Rieslings from seriously steep slate vineyards that have an ethereal, shimmering beauty. The only grower(s) along the Mosel who exclusively use big old oak barrels rather than stainless steel.
It was great to see Rosi & Anthony Hanson again in Burgundy! Beautiful food, wine, company and location. 🙏🙏❤️
