I've written a lot about Greenwich peninsula on the site recently as plenty going on.
Work on riverside tower has started, looks like work on others near N Greenwich station has commenced whilst Fairview blocks could start next month.
Parts of GMV and towers by SMM school nearly complete

One clear example of this Labour govt's hypocrisy seen today:
Needed to go Lewisham. No Southeastern service there now on a Sunday since cuts in 2022.
Labour opposed in opposition. Gain power. Then keep the cuts.
Thanks

Bless 'em.
"Other parties will let you down" say Labour.
To which 90 per cent of voters will say "eh? you've let us down so sod it let's try anyone else".
Hence why Labour shedding votes - plus members and councillors - to other parties.

3/3 Path oitside leads to newly redeveloped estates nearby with a big housing increase and future Lewisham Tesco development featuring a number of towers

This appears the most logical place for new entrance to north of station. Non load bearing wall on left at base of staircase, lift and subway. Plenty space outside for small structure with ticket gates

Tesco in Lewisham set to be redeveloped in coming years. Viewed from station.
Crying out for new station entrance here just below where this was taken. On left can be seen a tower built on part of former car park. Plenty more new homes this side of the station.

Town is absolutely perfect for tram network. Dual carriageways run from Thamesmead to North Greenwich, Abbey Wood Liz line and to Erith.
TfL had the right idea with GWT. Why on earth this dog shit DLR plan now usurped it is puzzling. A crappy cut and shut solution derived from Boris Johnson cuts
07.11.2025 22:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
So many people drove like idiots in Thamesmead as it's dual carriageways everywhere. Could and should become a proper pedestrian friendly place with high quality streets and transport links for all. Not the shite DLR plan which isnt by a long shot and does nothing for most of the town
07.11.2025 22:08 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
It really is 5 minutes. I've been on a bus from Thamesmead to Abbey Wood today as I often am.
Go check out Google maps and see live bus departures from parts of Thamesmead to Abbey Wood station

Four cars had a bit of a smash in Thamesmead tonight.
Here's an idea. Build a bloody tram linking the town to nearby Liz line stations 5 mins away using the dual carriageways built in the 70s and 80s in a previous era. Car centric design has failed. Ditch the piss poor DLR extension plan.
07.11.2025 21:52 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0
Bus priority in Thamesmead is fine. Road network designed for 100k population which never arrived. Empty dual carriageways abound. Takes 5 mins on a bus to reach Liz line from much of Thamesmead. A myth that it's remote. Was in the 70s-90s. Not now.

2/2 Always funny to hear people say Thamesmead has no rail link when town starts 200m and a one minute walk from Abbey Wood station.

Not happening. DLR plan as it stands deeply flawed.

I grew up in an estate built by the London County Council. It was fantastic.
Now I rent privately and have no security.
To see the charlatans that are Labour now is pathetic to witness. This current lot a joke. Spending *less* this yr than the Tories under Sunak on affordable housing.

So, so tired of Labour's piss poor PR on social housing.
Just give up, accept you're not spending more than the Tories in real terms and let someone else have a go.
Starmer, Reeves and the rest aren't invested, don't care and following the same old failed policies. Endless empty PR is insulting.

I love the "ten years - longest ever".
That's as most funding pushed into the 2030s when a future govt can cut it
Here and now it's less than the bloody Sunak govt on an annual basis. Pitiful stuff. Labour have lost it massively; not the party of the past by a long, long way

only in the small print of this article do they make clear that the pensioners paying an extra ยฃ2,500 of tax would have to have
โearnings over ยฃ125,140โ
I know many pensioners are asset rich but how many have income at that level?

Mainly intended at first to take photos for some articles on my site. But then just stopped and enjoyed. London was looking wonderful.
So many fantastic areas visited.
