AFA-CWA Endorses Ed Markey

“AFA is proud to endorse Senator Markey for reelection. This endorsement of Ed Markey by our Flight Attendant union is also a personal one for me,” said Sara Nelson, International President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO. “I’ll never forget standing in the middle of our crisis room at the Hilton Logan in the wake of 9/11, grieving the loss of people I love and trying to make sense of our new world, when Ed walked in without fanfare to listen, grieve with us, and commit to Never Forget. He fights every day like our pain is his pain. He demands results because real people fuel his fight. He fought with that same conviction to secure the historic worker’s first relief during COVID that kept two million aviation workers connected to our paychecks and healthcare while capping executive pay and banning stock buybacks. Ed Markey fights for the working class and the people who need a champion. He stands with us. And we stand with him.”

Grateful to earn the endorsement of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA and my good friend, @flyingwithsara.bsky.social. The @afacwa.org organizes, fights, and wins. Together, we'll keep fighting for aviation workers and their families across Massachusetts and the nation.

"We owe this to the lives lost on PSA 5342 and PAT 25, to their loved ones, and the people we vow to protect everyday through aviation safety. Our union is dedicated to continuing to work to make this bill law as soon as possible and to continue implementing all the NTSB recommendations.”

The ROTOR Act just died on the House floor.

I don’t want to look in the eyes of another family member who lost a child or parent or spouse. I’m really disappointed and looking at next steps of how we can get the right legislation passed.

United CEO Scott Kirby says he loves Flight Attendants & wants them to have the best contract at “the best airline in the history of aviation.” But delayed negotiations continue because he’s demanding FAs pay for improvements. That's not how you get the best! It’s either one or the other, Scott.

The speed with which American voters are turning against data centers is breathtaking.

One comparison might be what happened to nuclear after the doublewhammy of "The China Syndrome" debuting days before Three Mile Island, except there's no equivalent in terms of Hollywood or industrial accidents.

On February 24, 1989, a B747 operating as United Flight 811 lost a cargo door shortly after leaving Honolulu. The explosive decompression that followed blew out several rows of seats, with nine passengers losing their lives.

The House MUST pass the ROTOR Act today! If we care about the lives lost and those we have yet to save this must become law ASAP! #NeverForget5342

The Staggering Costs of Trump’s War on Public Service The administration’s steep cuts to public service jobs and research opportunities are saving Americans very little money—but they’re having a detrimental impact on society.

With the decline of scientists working for the public good (and funded on the public dime), we'll lose out on discoveries that may lead to new drugs, new cures, and new breakthroughs.

The future will arrive; it just won’t be Americans building it anymore—or profiting from it. trib.al/BGyyY4Y

A little over one year ago, on February 17, 2025, Endeavor AFA Flight Attendants performed a successful evacuation of Delta Endeavor Flight 4819. Even on an inverted aircraft, the crew of 4819 made it possible for every passenger to get out of the plane.

We are aviation’s first responders.

S.F. schools to stay closed Friday for 5th day of teachers strike It's the fourth day of San Francisco schools closed and teachers striking. A deal is inching closer after a late night of talks.

What the union is trying to accomplish here is fundamental to having a better life. All of my accolades and praise are owed to these teachers for taking this on. What they want is the American dream. missionlocal.org/2026/02/sf-t...

Graphic with a photo of a group of workers marching circa 1900. Big Bill Haywood is highlighted, and a head taller than any of the men around him. The graphic features a quote from Haywood reading "If one man has a dollar he didn't work for, some other man worker for a dollar he didn't get."

Big Bill Haywood had a simple dream: to build one big union for all workers in every industry.

He was born in Salt Lake City on February 4, 1869. His father died when Bill was just 3 years old. Bill grew up with little education... 🧵 #unionhistory #laborhistory #1u #solidarity

We had a good discussion with @flyingwithsara.bsky.social, President of @afacwa.org, at this week's @laborcaucus.house.gov meeting. Flight attendants keep us safe in the air, and they deserve fair pay, strong protections, and respect on the job.
