AV request! I want some headphones for doing audio cleanup on the podcast. Something lightweight, my ears already sweat too much from these crappy old ones. And *light*, not gigantic cans. What's good? What do *you* use?

I would add: even if you don’t call yourself a legal historian but study history involving law-ish stuff, you’ll find a welcoming, friendly and brilliant group of scholars at ASLH!

And it’s normal and healthy for teenage kids to start relying on friends and other adults first. That’s them becoming more independent and it’s what you want to see. They have to develop distance and privacy. This can be hard for parents but it’s necessary for well balanced adults

When DOGE Unleashed ChatGPT on the Humanities

It was wrong and harmful - and quite possibly unlawful - to cut already approved NEH grants because Donald Trump hates "DEI."

But the way DOGE went about doing it was even dumber than you probably imagined.

They fed abstracts into ChatGPT and demanded an answer in fewer than 120 characters.

The South ending Reconstruction and plunging their populations into a backward looking culture and economy until it was forced to modernize by the Civil Rights movement is imo a very clean parallel.

DOJ releases Epstein files with accusations against Trump Over the course of four interviews in 2019, a woman told the FBI that Epstein and Trump sexually abused her in the 1980s.

“A DOJ source told the Miami Herald that agents found her to be credible—and that they would not have interviewed her four times if they thought she was lying.”

I share this frustration. So, if I suspect AI usage, I simply assign a minimum score and leave a comment that the student needs to come and talk to me. If they don't, the grade stands. If they do, then I investigate. This (more) aligns effort between the parties.

At least 13 hospitals and health facilities hit during attacks on Iran, WHO says Global health body investigating reports that four medics are among the 1,230 people killed in Iran since start of war

The world health organization has found that the US and Israel have bombed several health facilities in Iran.

We have also bombed two ADDITIONAL schools this week, not counting the girls schools earlier. Making that 4 in total.

We are the bad guys in this illegal war.
