A left hand drive, third generation Nissan LEAF taking a bend on the wrong side of the road.

Nissan UK have announced that the "All-new #LEAF" will be built in Sunderland & be #V2G capable:

However, they're being a bit coy about precisely when and how that functionality will be delivered, although it sounds as though #V2L will be available on initial deliveries.

"If a smart EV chargepoint supports #V2G functionality and has been configured to present itself to the DSRSP as an ESA, it shall meet the information and messaging requirements specified in Clause 5 and Clause 6.

NOTE Smart EV chargepoints are not required to support V2G functionality."

Clause 8 of the draft PAS includes these specific requirements regarding EV charging:

"The smart EV chargepoint ESA shall be capable of reporting forecast power profiles based on operating capabilities, consumer preferences, including expected departure/arrival schedule..."

A quick guide to some esoteric acronyms:

#DSR = Demand Side Response
#DSRSP = DSR Service Provider
#ESA = Energy Smart Appliance
#HEMS = Home Energy Management System

For the avoidance of doubt, a "smart" EV charger is a special case of an ESA.

We arrived at Crooklets beach in Bude aiming to enter the water shortly after low tide.

By that time the sky had clouded over, but at least the frost had gone!
