Shabana Mahmood vows to stick with hardline migration policies after byelection defeat
Home secretary will defy โplain wrongโ calls from unions and leftwing MPs that she is alienating Muslim voters
โMahmood will argue next week that migration policies โ including forcing people to wait 20 years before being able to claim leave to remain โ were entirely consistent with Labour valuesโ
I just despair

Quite literally Mette in Denmark has a policy called the Ghetto Law that allows them to bulldoze and sell off social housing if it is too โnon-westernโ and western doesnโt even mean all of Europe just the rich countries.

Net migration in 2025 was about 160,000.
That headline 2025 net migration figure will come out in May: it will clearly be significantly below the 205k for the year to June 2025 (est range: 130-180k) as 2025 visa data is now published.
But the 2026 figure is likely to show negative net migration.

If you ever find yourself wondering how things like the Epstein story happened, consider the mid-level newspaper editor who admitted in a public judicial inquiry that he destroyed a womanโs life and drove her to suicide to try and impress Piers Morgan.

Remember Mark Carneyโs country is under constant threat of annexation by Trump and he is full heartedly backing a Trump regime change war.
I wonder if the tune will be the same when he is kidnapped from Canada? I wonder if he thinks people should write similar letters of support for Trump.

With an ageing society economy can't function without immigration. Need sensible debate.

It also speaks to the general British detachment of class in the economic and marxian sense vs social class in the British political sense.
That you are born into a social class and it is near inescapable, instead of it being the result of material conditions.

Labour isnโt the party of Labour, or the Workers or the Working Class for Mahmood and Starmer, it is merely the Party of the Fetishized Worker who is just like them: cruel, male, straight, and petty.

Or consider that minorities and migrants can be working class too, Labourโs fear of Marxist analysis is why their canโt understand that unless you literally control capital you are not in the Bourgeois. The proletariat has always been broad and diverse, social nationalism is anathema solidarity.

We're not far off the 10th anniversary of the Brexit vote.
I'm betting that a good third of the people who voted it through are now dead. Adults aged 27 and under today were too young to vote back then.
We need referendum to rejoin. Share if you agree!

Remembering that time they toppled Saddam Hussein and then everything in Iraq was suddenly chill and peace reigned supreme with blessedly little political fallout
(The destabilisation of Iraq led to refugee migration in the millions, millions dead, spawned new even more evil terrorist groups)

From US admin official background briefing recording listening to, seriously question if US negotiators understood what Iranians were proposing. One official keeps saying acronym for โIAEAโ wrong.
They seem astonished Iran would not agree to the US supplying them nuclear fuel

Explains why Oman FM tried to come to DC to explain what US negotiators may not have fully understood
Laura Rozen
@lrozen
Am not saying what Iran proposed would have been enough, I dont know, but it seems US negotiators did not have the expert guidance to understand it correctly
On top of all the reporting that this war of aggression was planned well in advance, it seems that the reporting also indicates that the US political leadership are quite literally too stupid to understand basic diplomacy. I mean literally not smart enough.

Excerpt from The Guardian story, featuring midterm candidates looking to change the Democratic party. Copy on excerpt reads:
THE GUARDIAN: US NEWS
HEADLINE: "'Are you willing to fight back?: Democrats ready to take on party's old guard ahead of midterms"
Photo of Kat showcased holding a stack of yard signs. Copy below reads:
"Another test case is Illinois' deep blue 9th District, where Kat Abughazaleh, 26, a progressive Palestinian American, is taking on a Democratic establishment she accuses of complacency and cowardice."
Excerpt from The Guardian story, featuring midterm candidates looking to change the Democratic party. Copy on excerpt reads:
"Abughazaleh believes that Democrats have long failed to meet the moment of taking on the far right. For her and many progressive challengers across the country, countering the Trump administration is inextricably linked to combating the influence of groups such as Aipac and challenging the corporate status quo.
Abughazaleh said: "I even see it in my own campaign where there are local leaders and elected officials that call me before endorsing one of my opponents, apologetically saying, I love what you're doing but I'm feeling a lot of pressure to endorse this way or the other. They feel that pressure in the first place instead of being able to stick to their values and it's a shame that we have a party that makes people feel like that."
"I don't know how many times we have to keep doing the same thing over and over and over again of insisting that we have to be more moderate, that we have to move to the right," Abughazaleh added, arguing that policies ensuring affordable housing, groceries and healthcare should represent the political centre."
You donโt beat the far right with moderation. You have to confront it.
Career politicians are unequipped to handle this moment. Itโs time for them to step aside.
