I don't see Republicans acting like this crosses a line at any point in the near future. even though he was attacking the entire caucus, Trump says far worse about progressive women (Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, etc) on the regular. this is the baseline

The murder he's referring to was a horrific crime...one of hundreds of tragic murders that have happened this year. There have been dozens of killings that have gone unmentioned in this speech of course, that are the result of Trump's immigration policies--Alex Pretti and Nicole Good being just two.

this went from "america is hot" to dateline

really remarkable how trump seems to relish sharing this lurid stories about the terrible pain people have experienced, and he does it exclusively to score some partisan points

he's really mad they're not standing which is kinda wild to watch in real time like he keeps remembering it every few minutes and mumbling under his breath except it's into the mic

The first half of the speech was designed to get pundits to grade Trump on a curve (wow, he's talking about the economy! he's pivoting!), but the second half is where the real action is, shoring up the collapsing base

He pointed to recent reporting indicating that Crockett has not named a campaign manager, and said “the delayed deposits of campaign contributions raise questions about who she has hired to do her campaign finance compliance.”

“There are frequently disparities between when a corporate PAC reports issuing a check and when a candidate reports cashing it, but lengthy disparities raise questions," Beckel said.

Candidates who swear off corporate PAC $ even if they've taken it in the past should be applauded, said Michael Beckel at IssueOne. “That said, if politicians say they are taking steps to fight the broken campaign finance system, voters want them to walk the walk.”

Crockett's House campaign also sat on several corporate PAC contributions for months, marking at least 4 of them as received in her House campaign only after she launched her Senate campaign on December 8. FEC rules require campaigns to cash checks w/in 10 days of receiving them

"They can’t say that there’s no corporate money flowing through her Senate campaign, because it’s obviously not true," said Brendan Glavin, director of insights at OpenSecrets.
