The planet is overheating. Why is the news looking away? Since 2021, global media coverage of climate change has dropped 38 percent. Blame wars, political chaos, and Jeffrey Epstein.

“Just because [climate change is] not being talked about in the media doesn’t mean that it suddenly disappeared or it’s been wiped out of [the American people’s] memory banks,” says Anthony Leiserowitz, director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication:

"Cars are the most absurd means of transport in a city. They are parked 95 per cent of the time. It takes two tonnes to move someone who weighs 70 kilogrammes. And the denser the city, the more absurd it is."

It’s not wrong. #UrbanTruth

If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

We are living in a hellaciously busy cycle of weather news (never mind overall news), but this one seemingly arrived out of left field. Half a million acres burned in just two days.

"Our trans siblings deserve our support and encouragement, endorsement and vindication now more than ever as the rising tide of transphobia threatens to engulf not just trans people but everybody who associates with them."

Stephen Fry in a video message for Transmission

I know some disagree but someone like Stephen Fry changing his mind and doing a complete 180 after supporting She Who Must Not Be Named, is a good thing and is evidence that attitudes are changing.

I'm not saying this is not bad. But what this is, is a wish list. It's a very important thing for us to read, because it's a list of regulatory options that the people that want us gone think exist for getting us gone, and those are things to keep an eye on. But it's not an FDA proposal.

California lawmakers exclude state law enforcement from mask ban
The legislation would now apply only to federal and local law enforcement, as well as officers from other states operating in California.

Federal Court Strikes Down California Law to Unmask Federal Agents

HEADLINE FEB 10, 2026

Here in the U.S., a federal judge has struck down a new California law
banning federal immigration agents
from wearing masks. U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder in Los Angeles ruled Monday that the law discriminates against federal officers since it doesn't make the same
requirements of state and local police. She suggested the ban would be lawful if it applied to all officers, and ruled in favor of a separate California law that requires all law enforcement agents to display their IDs. In September 2025, California enacted a law, SB 627, banning law enforcement from wearing masks (e.g., ski masks, gaiters) while on duty to increase accountability. A last-minute change, supported by Governor Newsom's office, initially exempted state peace officers from this ban. This exemption was later cited by a federal judge who blocked the law in February 2026, finding it discriminatory against federal agents.

Key details:
• The Law: The No Secret Police Act (SB 627) prohibits masks during protests and most public interactions, with exceptions for medical

So it’s looking like @gavinnewsom.bsky.social / @governor.ca.gov & his admin deliberately sabotaged California’s Mask Ban on ICE.

They snuck a provision in at the last minute, superfluously excluding state police from that law, which is why a federal judge struck it down, ruling it discriminatory.

In keeping with the ancient Greek theme: operation Lyric Oracle. Because it’s being directed by completely unpredictable pronouncements that are more about metaphors and images than about literal meaning.

and that, right there, is how i think about genAI: not so much about the slop it extrudes, not even exactly about the harm to the people plagiarized from to make it, but that it's a trap for people with questions. an intellectual tar baby. a Screwfly Solution for communication instead of sex.

just a normal clarinetist with a section on climate change denial on his wikipedia page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonatha...

One of the things that really trips a lot of analysts, including ones with real skin in the game, is that they refuse - absolutely refuse - to accept how stupid Trump very obviously is. He has no knowledge of anything, is incapable of learning, and only remembers the last thing to happen to him.

This is amazing.

When the government kills a crucial report, independent scientists decide to write it anyway and release it outside of government channels.

That’s science serving society, even when our political leaders don’t.

screenshot from Autonomy News:
However, as QueerDoc’s attorney Paula Ramer pointed out, it’s perfectly legal for medical providers to prescribe drugs "off-label”—meaning for uses or at doses not specifically approved by the FDA. The Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act regulates how manufacturers can label and advertise medications, not how medical providers prescribe them to patients.

In response to a question from Judge Richard Paez, a Bill Clinton employee, the DOJ’s Welch claimed gender-affirming care providers like QueerDoc could be committing “conspiracy [with manufacturers] to engage in this kind of off-label promotion.”

Off-label prescriptions are incredibly common, with different studies finding that anywhere from 21 percent to nearly one-third of all prescriptions are off-label. FDA approval is expensive and complicated, and manufacturers don’t often spend the millions of dollars required for supplemental approvals when their drug is already on the market.

A DOJ attorney claimed puberty blockers and hormones may be “misbranded” when used for trans people's healthcare and providers may be engaging in “conspiracy [with manufacturers] to engage in this kind of off-label promotion.”

Really importantly - THIS 1000 page 'evidence' review, does not dignify a detailed response.

I will NOT be preparing a detailed analysis of every wrong step taken.

We need to instead state openly & clearly that this fraud is abusive and beneath contempt. That we reject it.

The moms risking arrest to protect gender-affirming care for trans youth The government wants to ban the care nationwide. Hospitals are shutting down treatment. Parents just want it all to stop.

Larissa, a therapist from D.C., recently spent 12 hours in a jail cell with five other people. There was no running water, since the sink wasn’t working. They were all fed once: a baloney sandwich per person.

She was there for her trans patients. They're being hurt by this administration, she said.
