Really proud to have had a small contribution to this work. Shane Farrell and Doug Rasher led the way showing that climate change can cause feedback effects that may make it difficult to restore ecosystems. In this case kelp is inhibited by red algae that replaces it

This study successfully developed the methodology of obtaining apo-symbiotic amoebae. And specificity of algal reclaiming suggested the recognition mechanism, common among symbiosis with distant evolution.

This is so sad... Since seawater temperature is becoming more and more severe, it brings stronger selective stress to all these creatures. I observed the same bleaching in Tokyo Bay in 2024.
