Genuinely you could get kart 8 deluxe right now for probably less than $60 and get more content out of it.

Kart world is absolutely not worth it. There simply isn’t content in the game.

If you don’t enjoy driving around a big empty world doing meaningless objectives for hours and maybe taking photos, then it has like a handful of hours of content. So much missed opportunity with it.

I decided to check out this PC only world on vrchat called SlashCo.

Honestly, it’s kind of awesome. I love horror stuff where there’s an actual monster walkin around that you gotta hide from.

But either like, I REALLY suck at it, or I’m level 2 and have no credits so it’s just absurdly hard lol.

Weirdest part is I think it started originally as a sonic.exe game called something like Sonic.exe 74, but then the only thing it had to do with sonic was the enemies were weird tails and knuckles clones. Everything else was totally original.

It was unironically so fucking fun. I wish it was real.

Had a dream about this like, 3d horror action adventure horror game. Had a story mode that was the big draw of the game, fun characters, movement tech, and lots of different weapons and NPCs that actually helped you kill enemies. It was kinda like a horde shooter too? Sort of? So hard to describe.

All this to say like. Sure, valve has “a monopoly”, but a large part of it is because Steam is Extremely Convenient In A Lot Of Ways.

They get the very rare privilege of not being beholden to shareholders because they’re a private company, which turns out to be pretty good for consumers actually.

I’ll give you that valve did in fact play a role in Lootboxes. Maplestory (2004) and FIFA 09 (2009) came first, then TF2 in 2010, CSGO in 2013.

Lootboxes only really got their way into loads of games after Overwatch popularized them in 2017, though. That’s Blizzard’s fault. Fuck Blizzard btw.
