🚨 Know someone in Houston, Humble, or Aldine? Remind them to vote in the 1/31 TX-18 special election!

After 11 months w/out representation, the runoff is our chance to elect @akedwardstx.bsky.social or @cdmenefee.bsky.social & hold Trump accountable.

Basically, you can get fired as a government employee for doing what Jerry Jones and Jaime Dimon did in 2020

CBS News entered a new period of turmoil on Tuesday after the executive producer of
"60 Minutes," Bill Owens, said that he would resign from the long-running Sunday news program because he had lost his journalistic independence.
In an extraordinary declaration, Mr. Owens
— only the third person to run the program in its 57-year history - told his staff in a memo that "over the past months, it has become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for '60 Minutes, right for the audience."
"So, having defended this show - and what we stand for - from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward," he wrote in the memo, which was obtained by The New York Times.

This is the right thing to do, and it’s a profound shame that he had to do it. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/22/b...

A screenshot of a Reuters article stating that the US FDA suspended milk quality test workforce cuts.

Previous to the FDA, folks would put chalk and plaster of Paris in milk to make it appear white. They could also add formaldehyde to cover the smell and taste of spoiled milk.

Hi, BlueSky. It's Hillary.

I've joined up here to help get the word out about an important election in Wisconsin tomorrow, and other ways to defend our democracy against those who think votes can be bought.

There were howls of protest and denial from the GOP any time we pointed out that Republicans want to cut Social Security.

Now the most powerful official in the White House goes on TV and calls it "the big one to eliminate."

We should compare Social Security, which has never missed a payment since its inception, to Tesla's stock price.

"What if we combined the normal sociopathy of a GOP administration with the absolute destruction of your 401K?"

Friendly reminder: if you are waiting on something from a US-based scientist/reviewer/editor, please realize that we're barely making it through each day putting out non-stop fires and trying not to collapse into tears. We're trying our best, but things will take longer right now. Give grace.

There's a deep denial of just how deep the hole was by the time Biden dropped out and how much Harris closed the gap. That's evidenced by how bad the party's margin's deteriorated outside of the swing states (and, by comparison, how well Harris did there).

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Real Texans support public schools.

Our neighborhood #txed schools are the only schools that are a right for 5.5 million kids—so shouldn’t we fully fund them and make them the best choice?

Texas fought for a PUBLIC system of education. That’s the fight today. #txlege

Call me a liar to my face, Governor Abbott.

I stand with the millions of Texas moms with kids in our #txed neighborhood schools who see your con & know the harm you are doing to our students.

I’ll be in my office.

Don't Defund My School Learn, organize, and defeat school vouchers in Texas.

Taxpayer-funded vouchers take money from your #txed neighborhood school to give to unaccountable private schools all so Abbott’s billionaire donors can turn a profit.

Find out how much your schools will lose:

To put a finer point on it, the Trump administration is mass firing federal employees and telling them if they dispute their termination that they can take it up with a board that will (I just learned) lack a quorum to function as of March 1 when another of the current board member’s term expires.

Uh, this is a nuclear bomb on university budgets if I am reading it correctly. Mandating an indirect cost rate of 15% *overnight*?

Republicans ran into the room to SHEILD Elon Musk from having to come and speak to Congress. They want their billionaire takeover done behind closed doors. The people deserve transparency. No one elected Elon Musk.
