It's not uncommon for me, during these Trump years, to be in a place with a lot of highly competent, serious, decent people -- a doctor's office, for instance -- and be struck with sadness that the folks running this massive, powerful country are not competent, serious, or decent.
This really is a howl. Many many dig dig.
Meanwhile on TikTok:
It's just absolutely insane the the American public reflexively thinks Republicans are better for the economy. They're better at giving uber-wealthy people tax breaks. That's it
And that’ll be to pay for the prior year’s increased costs, nvm any new spending!
This was something Robert Ferri brought up often when running for Mayor, city facing fiscal cliff. But hard to point to anything but specific instances of overspending in PDFs bc of how opaque budget is. He called it, Cranston is gonna have max tax increases for years to come.
“the city’s reserves fell from 8.2% to 5.3%, far below the recommended level of 17% for municipalities.
Bergantino also cited a lack of transparency in Cranston, saying the city and school department failed to submit required spending reports to the state during the last fiscal year.”
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”
Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.
So pathetic and weak.
I believe in this moment of terror people want courage something you show through acts and not by taking safe political hits where you risk nothing and take only the most tepid position.
Over 50% of primary voters are undecided in gov primary not bc they don’t know anything about candidates but in largest part bc no one is offering anything for left, or if they are then they’re making it clear they’re being dragged there. People notice if you only take the safest positions and jabs
It is wild how much aesthetically and substantively RI democratic statewide candidates worry about moderate Dems, who are tops 30-35% of dem primary voters, while offering little to nothing for left, a much bigger constituency in a year like ‘26, maybe 40-45% of electorate.
@samghoward.riliberator.com who puts a press release out that a business location closed when they’re still in business in two other locations. People don’t point your finger at gov without some detached from reality professional help imho. Swing and a whiff.
Maybe if you have all that restaurant business in one place, you need to maintain good relationships with the community of people who are most likely gonna support a vegan restaurant, cyclists.
Yes, conveniently leaves out her war on bike lanes, and complaints of not enough street parking even though I would argue there are more empty spots there than anywhere else in Providence on the reg.
I do not know how this is not the top of mind thing for every person who reads the news. Yes your take here does matter, and people do want to hear from you if you’re running for office right now.
It strikes me as very sad that the only Democrats in RI that I see posting videos speaking about extrajudicial murders by the federal government are lefty challengers. Only written statements or retweets from all the normie statewide Democrats, codel, and candidates.
@fitzprov.bsky.social Would be great to ask him what he thinks of the federal funding freezes and cuts and if that’s helpful towards creating a more stable, mental health and addiction recovery system. (Surprise: it’s not)
health in RI since the president was elected.
Both of these things already exist, you have the governor’s overdose task force and recovery friendly workplaces. So this feels like he’s either trying to reinvent the wheel or he’s ignorant of current efforts.
@fitzprov.bsky.social out of curiosity was this interview conducted before or after the samhsa funding shut off and then immediate reversal the next day? Because this section seemed incredibly ignorant of the fact that that and other funding freezes/cuts has been decimating mental and behavioral
When Mitt Romney is more progressive than most Democrats ...

One take I have is that it is to millennial trump 2.0 resistance politics as “join or die” is to boomer trump 2.0 resistance politics.

Tired: Next Tuesday's NYC mayoral election.
Wired: Next Tuesday's special-election Democratic primary for Providence's Ward 2 City Council seat.
Here's the new web site for public media in Rhode Island, bringing together the local NPR and PBS stations - oceanstatemedia.org
/less Americans read as percentage of population? So smaller market here per capita?
No clue on this one, but I remember noticing when I went a while ago that live theater in the West End was a lot cheaper than Broadway and yet movies were 2 to 3 times as expensive as us. Maybe cultural priorities?
Yes not setting the bar low or all that attainable imo.
It's cool, but it's no Cranston.
