What an absolutely despicable level of medical neglect this poor man suffered. This is the reality of these concentration camps and ICE will bring more of this to Marana and Surprise if those facilities open.

Walgreens CEO describes drawback of anti-shoplifting strategy: βWhen you lock things upβ¦you donβt sell as many of themβ | Fortune
Walgreens' CEO talked about the flip side of investing in increased security on a recent earnings call.
This and Walgreens creating a fake shoplifting panic that they somehow then convinced themselves was real causing them to invest in massive security upgrades which didn't deter shoplifters but did deter customers from buying their merchandise...

I learned about the TomboyX brand of gender-affirming underwear when it was news that Target stocked them. It's unbelievable how efficiently they shredded all the goodwill they'd built with stuff like that. Anyway, buy directly from @tomboyx.com, they're great.

To be bluntly egotistical about it, at this point in my career, me contributing to most magazines in the market will be more of a benefit to them saleswise than to me payment-wise, so why would I choose to benefit a magazine that is undermining fellow writers, artists and other creatives (so: no)

It seems even worse, because with the GLP-1s (which are great for some medical conditions), thinness is now about wealth instead of the βwillpowerβ buzzwords of the 90s. Those were bad and damaging, this time weβre using it to reinforce class barriers, too.

It is the result of political decisionsβabout wages, zoning, public investment, tenant rights, and who the economy is built to serve.

As alarming as the official Point-in-Time numbers are, the reality is far worse.
Recent research suggests the true number of people experiencing homelessness in the U.S.βincluding those living in cars, hotel rooms, or doubled up with othersβis at least *six times* higher than the official count.

Homelessness today isn't just the person sleeping outside a convenience store. It's often the cashier working inside.
It's people who prepare food, deliver packages, care for the sick & elderlyβand at the end of the day return not to homes but to cars, shelters, tents, or extended-stay hotel rooms.

Paperback edition of There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America by Brian Goldstone
Today the paperback of THERE IS NO PLACE FOR US is out.
It's arriving in a country once again waging warβa country that can spend tens of billions on bombs without blinking, while millions of Americans are one missed paycheck, one rent hike away from homelessness.
Let's take stock of where we are.

In Defense of Effeminate Boys
If anyone had suggested that I might really be a girl, I donβt know how I would have responded.
By Ben Appel
If medical authorities have a rigorous way of distinguishing effeminate boys from transgender kidsβor of distinguishing transgender kids from proto-gay kidsβthey arenβt saying. I have met a number of detransitioned gay men who tried to live as women for a time because they and their families were so averse to homosexuality. According to a 2019 report in The Times of London, staffers at Britainβs foremost gender-identity clinic joked darkly that, as a result of the facilityβs work, βthere would be no gay people left.β A statement last month by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons noted that there is no validated way to assess whether a childβs gender distress will persist over time or disappear without medical intervention. A lack of good research and recordkeeping means that we may never know how many patients who would have been considered effeminate gay boys not so long ago have undergone medical treatments for gender dysphoria.
Absolute trash. The author did not speak to a single medical professional and the article does not contain a shred of evidence that effeminate gay boys are being bamboozled into thinking they're trans.
