It's not a "jibe".

He said, with dignity and restraint, what we were all thinking - that Al-Obeid didn't just "die" - he, like tens of thousand of other innocent civilians, was killed by Israel as part of its ongoing programme of ethnic cleansing.

Many of these same people once mocked the left for mistaking their own prejudices and assumptions as the country’s, egged on by online radicalisation. These same people make the same mistake and then some.

It is quite something to see much of what was once the mainstream right predicting, hoping for, braying for “revolt/revolution”.

If you tried to tell a Reform supporter that Farage wanted to kill off the NHS, they'd no doubt claim you were some malevolent instrument of the state. Careful what you vote for, I suppose, and then spend the next five years justifying the ramifications to yourself and everyone else 🤷‍♂️

I think that might underplay momentum behind them, which seems to transcend regular political 'considerations'. Obvs benefitting from Lab/ Con struggles but like dreaded Boris effect, when only him 'betraying' electorate (so dismantling his 'man of the people' persona) killed off his premiership.

My concern is that, as with Trump supporters, it goes beyond rational 'appraisal' of a party and towards something quite ideological and zealotry-based.

Bearing in mind the amount of campaigning effort required for them to secure local by-election victories (minimal) and I remain worried.

They're pretty high, tho, particularly for party w/ only handful of MPs in parli? Reform consistently sweeping in w/ victories in local by-elections (obvs), often w/ v. little campaigning comparative to other parties. Two Surrey by-elections coming up and one in East Hampshire and both = LD vs. Ref.

Among other things: Christian, who has been in government for 14 out of the last 15 years, and how many of the major decisions they made did you support?

Sorry, but why are we wasting time worrying about teens on TikTok when clearly the real at-risk group was right-wing adults on X.
