That's racism. Plain and simple.

No other word for it.

It's shocking beyond belief that this sort of thing is somehow acceptable.

Powellโ€™s election is a sign of the disillusionment of Labour members - but there is a much much bigger and more worrying sign.

Turn out was just 16%

What I donโ€™t understand is why the British press donโ€™t hang Brexit around Nigel Farageโ€™s neck like a stockade.

It was the single worst act of economic self harm in modern British history.

Why doesnโ€™t the British media force him to own that?

That's not strictly true though. And a lot of Plaid support apparently came as a response to them standing up to Reform ideology.

The current Labour Party's contempt *for people who actually voted Labour* does not bode well here.

It's far too early to be writing off Reform based on potential for tactical voting, but it's hugely uncertain what the electorate's mood will be in 2029. Labour could fight back to ~30% or it could be polling worse than now. Very obviously the state of the economy and public services matters a lot.

Good point from @adambienkov.bsky.social - if the massed ranks of the right wing press with BBC boosting, plus the vast amount of money (and foreign social media bots) couldnโ€™t get Reform over the line, what will?
