I read the “Save America Act,” so you don’t have to. Most of the media apparently *hasn’t* read it because, if they had, they would be sounding the alarm about the provision in Point 1, below, which almost none of them have even mentioned. I hope this summary helps raise awareness. 1/

Because I feel that, in the Heavens above
The angels, whispering to one another,
Can find, among their burning terms of love
None so devotional as that of ‘Mother’

– Edgar Allen Poe

(This is fun to whisper in a creepy voice to your teenager...)

Flashes by Laura Grace Weldon In-between ever-worsening news I see flashesbright as the best tomorrow. Thousands standing in subzero cold singing outside a detention center. Neighbors, arms linked, protect…

I haven't mustered whatever it takes to write many poems in the last year, but that whatever is working its way back to me. This one was published today thanks to editor Jeffrey Heath of @januaryhouselit.bsky.social

One of those pheasants has made our place his non-MAGA refuge---eating seed fallen from the bird feeder, living in pondside rushes. He told me his name is Philip.

Earth 2050

Culture evolves in leaps
(despite predictable backslides
into fear’s white-hot wrongs).

One such advance took place this year
during the global referendum of
Coming Generation representatives

who unanimously decreed
all who command armed forces
must be grandmothers,

preference given
to great-grandmothers.
These Matriarch-led forces

will counter aggression and oppression
with the weapons long known to their leaders:
shared stories, fierce honesty, tenderness.

Every bombed village is my hometown.

And every dead child is my child.

Every grieving mother is my mother.

Every crying father is my father.

Every home turned to rubble

is the home I grew up in.

Every brother carrying the remains

of his brother across borders

is my brother.

Every sister waiting for a sister

who will never come home

is my sister.

Every one of these people are ours,

Just like we are theirs.

We belong to them

and they belong to us.

Tehran, a beautiful city in existence for at least 6K years. A CIA-led effort 75 yrs ago protected oil interests by overthrowing Iran's democratically elected leader who, backed by Iranian parliament, attempted to nationalize the country's oil for the benefit of Iran's citizens. Now this.

Spain’s MEP Irene Montero speaking to reporters

Irene Montero: No woman has ever been freed by American bombs or illegal aggression — Not in Syria. Not in Iraq. Not in Afghanistan. It will not happen in Iran either

When they want to sell their oil wars, their wars for profit, their imperial wars — they hide behind women’s rights to justify them

This drawing by a 7-year-old Iranian girl won first prize in an International "Peaceful Towns" art competition a few years ago. May she, and every person in Iran, be safe from our evil.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.
Sahar Delijani, Iranian author

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.

I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

Sahar Delijani said it best:

words - "All around me I see love swirling, too. Ferocious love. Liberating love. Love that leaves no one alone, and no one behind. Love that refuses siloing, and zero-sum-games of divide and conquer. Love that risks it all. Love that fights to stay open-hearted, tender, soft, here. Love that fights, to be with and for each other." - anna blaedel
