I used to earn my living as a migration lawyer btw. I have housed both Syrian and Ukraine refugees in my home. I am not a fan either of new found intolerant attitudes, the increase in gang related violence (likely mostly due to integration taking time), or the ongoing right wing backlash.

I'd love nothing more than to agree. I detest the new Elon. Unfortunately the statistics behind his lies, correctly interpreted, are bad enough. I too was in favor of our good heated, well meaning immigration policies. But how many real refugees still suffer in camps because we let in the tourists?

You've got a wonderful year ahead. I suggest you start with the Samson suite (the jury is out on the right order to read them, and not only where to wedge in Winter, so do your homework and beware of spoilers before starting☺️). The Harry Palmer novels, IMHO, are far lesser works.

Hear hear. Not only is the plot and sub-plots well put together. Every single character is carefully presented and developed throughout the entire suite. As is Berlin. And Deighton's prose, vocabulary, flow and tempo, is perfection from page one. Spy novels they all remain, but absolutely perfect. ❤️
