Yeah, I often view my first play as a "learning game." Vantage isn't even particularly complex, but I managed to mix up the Depart and Move books. 🫣

Ah, that makes sense! I know in my school district it seems like they're always changing the programs we use/have access to. Drives me crazy sometimes.

I actually had some mixed feelings after my first play, but I think it is one of those games that gets better with repeated plays. We also made a rules goof which didn’t help. 😂 My second play was def better and more interesting.

Played a game of My Father's Work this weekend. Hadn't played this one in quite a while. This game has wonderful storytelling and amazing components. We got an ending I hadn't seen before. I really managed to upset the villagers with my focus on occult experiments. 🤣 #boardgames

I really enjoy Forest Shuffle. It's a gorgeous game and so satisfying to build up your little forest!

Spyrium A unique worker-placement game set in a steampunk world.

I've always thought that Spyrium by William Attia is hugely underrated. It has a unique spin on worker placement, and is incredibly fun! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/13...

Thanks for the recs! Tash-Kalar has been on my wish list forever. Looks like a game I would love. Hope to get a copy one day. 🤞 I've heard lots of great things about Star Wars Rebellion. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan (pls don't revoke my geek card, lol), but def would love to play at some point!

Yes, I love the Star Realms app! I only have the base game, but still find it incredibly fun. I just watched the Watch it Played vid on Radlands. Def seems like there's a lot going on, but looks like a lot of fun in pulling off combos with different card effects.

I can see where you're coming from — it IS a very simple game, but for me, that’s part of the charm. That said, my husband always destroys me at it. 😅 We’re usually pretty evenly matched, so the fact that the game’s strategic nuances still elude me makes it a challenge I can’t walk away from. 😂
