Having five synagogue attacks (three in Canada, one in the U.S., now this) hit the news in a matter of days has me thinking about how many more didn't grab media attention. It's shabbat. Look out for your Jewish comrades.

Big fluffy black and tan husky mix with bright blue eyes romping in the snow. She has a big smile and a clump of white fluff on her nose, for she is a very happy girl. This is her WEATHER.

goooood morning and uh, this is a surprise? but not an unwelcome one - and we ran into a disgruntled kid friend who does *not* get a snow day, but here on the far side of false spring, you can safely bet: Lucy Loved That Walk

Photographs of a dinosaur-looking bird, the shoebill, and popstar Sabrina Carpenter, overlaid with a height comparison showing both are 152 cm, with visual graphics saying the magazine's name SSWAGGER and some Chinese characters Photographs of a shoebill and popstar Sabrina Carpenter overlaid with a height comparison showing that, yes indeed, both are just 152 cm I can't even begin to describe this photograph. I think that might be Taylor Swift on a night out with Sabrina Carpenter. But Sabrina is photoshopped to have a shoebill face and talons, with wing-tips coming out her coat but still Sabrina's hair

Just incredible shoebill awareness-raising from this Hong Kong teens' magazine

Given lit trends, I'm rebranding my book as smut. It's about the romance of salmon, who navigate oceans & rivers to fuck & perish. It's about the sensuous slithering of lamprey; the orgiastic joy of herring; the bondage of male anglerfish. Cover art depicts a bull shark in a bodice. Ichthyoerotica.

For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be. A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong “Target fast,” but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasn’t his to call off.

We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.

Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: “[Black women] will say if & when it’s over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.”

This is such a good idea. It is great to be righteously angry; it is even better when people figure out a way to channel that into actual efforts to ameliorate harm. Congrats to all.

I think gambling outside of say low stakes bets with friend groups is in fact bad and no socially redeeming value, but people are going to do it anyway so you should make it hard and also tax the companies who are doing it a lot.

Left: A photo of Jupiter's turbulent atmosphere. The gas giant's surface is aswirl with clouds, storms, and vortices in shades of orange, white, brown, and blue, like a tempest in cosmic cappuccino. Credit: NASA / SwRI / MSSS / Gerald Eichstädt / Seán Doran.

Right: Photo of a soap bubble. Its surface swirls with mesmerizing ribbons and vortices in oranges, blues, and purples, reminiscent of an oil slick. Official caption from source: "This image shows a lamp's reflection on a soap bubble, revealing a vibrant rainbow pattern resulting from thin film interference." Credit: Pksois23, Wikimedia Commons.

On the left, Jupiter.
On the right, a soap bubble.

Patterns are expressions of nature's intrinsic poetry. The cosmos loves to rhyme.

Gov. Sherrill plan seeks to fine big companies with workers on Medicaid • New Jersey Monitor Gov. Sherrill wants to fine large companies up to $725 annually per worker enrolled in Medicaid. Business groups oppose the plan.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill is seeking to fine big companies with workers on Medicaid.

Her plan would generate $145 million to offset the state's Medicaid costs.

Too often big corporations deny workers healthcare, and rely on the state to step in.

Let's use that classic NYTimes passive voice. A violence will occur to the people who have committed violence against us. Then they scatter, straight to the traps. That's how it goes. It will take a violence. It's not ideal! But you can set your clock to it. It will occur.

Happy black and tan husky mix smiling and ears popping while she prepares to catch a bite of poptart crust in the snow. Same dog, looking over her shoulder - and covered with snow. It’s been coming down pretty steadily since I took this pic; we’re up to maybe a couple inches. Same happy dog covered in snow. Another pic of the dog with snow poof on her nose. She is smiling in the snow at the end of a red leash.

this is usually the part where I post a Morning Monty but you guys we have SNOW and Lucy is HERE FOR IT

As I’ve been saying for six years, you cannot decide to shut off empathy in just one lil area (all of disabled and vulnerable people.) Endangering people for your convenience and comfort is a drug you do not do recreationally.

Anyone who's had their right to fully exist debated by some sweaty white dude who's just discovered Schopenhauer will surely feel this in their bones, but nice to have @marawilson.bsky.social articulate it so succinctly

There are no "devil's advocates." Just devils and dickheads
