I totally agree with you. I just wish some mentees would be more willing to listen. I’m not saying always do what is asked but actively listen. Maybe past trauma blocks them.

I was just told that I shouldn’t worry about what’s happening because I currently have a good job, a place to live, and a nice car. I just can’t with folks like this. What happens to the least privileged in my community impacts me. We must be united!
Today’s joy was having dear friends over for lunch, and a phone call with a dear friend! Tomorrow’s joy will be the start of a new research project… family literacies, family engagement, and civic advocacy! The scary thing is I literacy asked myself can I post the word advocacy!
Over the last several weeks, I’ve been working to find joy thus I’ve started reading for pleasure again and making sure that my spouse and I get in our daily couple’s walk. Building joy will allow me to work with my communities as we find ways to thrive! We must do more than survive!
