If the Trump administration really wanted to do something good, it would go after the folks who make Almond Joy. There is nothing joyful about ruining almonds.

Ellsworth turns from former persecutor to latest Democratic martyr β€’ Daily Montanan Columnist Darrell Ehrlick wonders why former Senate President Jason Ellsworth is being defended by Senate Democrats.

In my latest column, I can quite figure out why Montana Senate Democrats would protect a former antagonist.

What's Moses have to do with chemistry, anyway? β€’ Daily Montanan Columnist Darrell Ehrlick says that if Montana leaders want to teach more about religion, then plastering the walls with the Ten Commandments isn't the way to do it.

In my latest column, I write that I have no problem with the presence of the 10 Commandments, I just don't think teachers should have to teach the subject matter.

Not in our town, not in our community, not here β€’ Daily Montanan Columnist Darrell Ehrlick asks Yellowstone County Commissioners to stop plans of using the MetraPark as a holding pen for immigrants.

In my latest column, I said that using any part of Yellowstone County to round up immigrants is not acceptable, and our history should prove it.

Justice's fork-in-the-road: Laws for the super rich and the rest of us β€’ Daily Montanan Columnist Darrell Ehrlick says that the problem with the justice system, both in Montana and in the U.S., isn't in applying the laws, it's in applying the consequences.

In my latest column, I suggest there's a two-tiered justice system: One for most of us, then the one for the super rich.

They can change the courts, but they can't change the Constitution β€’ Daily Montanan Columnist Darrell Ehrlick says that much of the anger by the Montana Legislature is misplaced because they keep on trying to legislate round the Montana Constitution.

In my latest column, I suggest the problem with the Montana Legislature is that they can't get around the Constitution. Power, literally, to the people.

Second Amendment groups say armed man across from grade school should be exonerated A coalition of gun-rights groups is arguing that a federal appeals court should overturn a conviction of a Billings man who appeared to be menacing an elementary school with a gun in hand.

This is a fascinating development in a case that scared a bunch of people in Billings in the fall of 2023. Good reporting from our partners @dailymontanan.bsky.social and @darrellehrlick.bsky.social .

Just doing some math (always dangerous for a journalist) and to get ready to deport 13M people, the U.S. government says it will need to upgrade detention facilities at a cost of $88B. Even assuming those are accurate, that means the US spending more than $6,600 per immigrant. Does that make sense?
